Debra Lynn Brymer age 60 of Nashua, Iowa died Sunday May 22, 2016, during a rafting excursion near Canon City, Colorado. Funeral services will be held 10:30 Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua with Rev. John F. Tunnicliff presiding. Mary Jean Parks will be the organist leading the congregation with hymns, 'The Old Rugged Cross' and 'Here I Am Lord'. Vocalists, Ashley Shepard and Jennifer Theis, will sing 'Amazing Grace'. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua with Jeff Brymer, Eric McLaughlin, Andrew Brymer, Ted Tyler, Edward Brymer and James Shepard as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Debra Lynn Brymer was born December 4, 1955, in Charles City, IA, the daughter of Donald and Nelda (Tolle) Shepard. She received her education in Nashua and graduated from the Nashua High School in 1974. On August 14, 1983, in Las Vegas, NV, she married Russelll Brymer. To this union four children were born. Deb was a very devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her family, especially her grandkids more than anything. Her smile was so contagious and her love was enough to fill an entire room. Every place Deb went she had a rock to prove it. Agates were her all time favorite, along with the color purple. Deb also loved cooking, baking and making the holidays special for her family. She had a passion for plants, at one time having over 30! Deb's final years included trucking with her Old Boy, and enjoying all the scenery. Survivors include her husband, Russell Brymer of Nashua; her mother, Nelda Shepard of Charles City; two sons, Jeffery Brymer of Cedar Falls and Edward (Mary) Brymer of Cookeville, TN; one daughter, Heather (Eric McLaughlin) Brymer of New Hampton; daughter-in-law, Billie Jo Weber of Waterloo; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Shepard of Henderson, NV and Larry Shepard of Charles City. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Shepard; son, James Brymer; granddaughter, Kenley Brymer; sister-in-law, Cathy Shepard; her father and mother-in-law, Robert and Ocy Brymer.

  13. I’ll never forget the time she helped her husband Russ shingled or house we had alot of laughs and she was alot of help our prayers go out to her family . We will miss her dearly.

Debbie, You have no clue how many lives you have touched, No matter if it was a brief moment that your path crossed wit someone of if it was a life long friend… People always remembered how you impacted their lives. It was your warm smile, your welcoming hand shake or hug, your infectious laugh,,, Sometimes just that ‘I’m here if you need me’ look. Our humanity si not measured by a brief moment of time but by all of our days added together… and you my friend… all of your moments made you the loving, kind,and caring women that you were, I will miss you and the long talks we had from time to time. Thank you for letting us adopt your son James and letting us welcome him into our family, we enjoyed being a part of his childhood, now maybe you can receive the answers you have been looking for, Give James and My Brother Tracy and dear Cathy hugs for us and tell them how much we’ve missed them and can’t waite to see them again.   18. She was one of the sweetest people I have met. I met her in the nursing home when I worked there and ran into her a few years back when we were both at the cemetery in Nashua. She loved her family so much as she talked about them often. Rest in peace Deb
