With our hearts broken, we say goodbye to our beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, Dale Mohr. He passed unexpectedly of natural causes.
Dale Thomas “DT” Mohr was born April 20, 1952, in New Hampton, Iowa, the son of Arlen and Constance (Welch) Mohr. Dale grew up in Fredericksburg, Iowa, with his brother Lawrence. Dale was active in school sports and music and was a proud Iowa Hawkeye graduate, where he received his MFA. He was a member of Acacia Fraternity and maintained those relationships, even after leaving Iowa City.
In 1979, Dale joined his brother, Lawrence, in Alaska and, in Fairbanks in 1986, met Mary, a young lady from Iowa. Dale and Mary were married at the top of Mount Alyeska on June 21, 1989. Dale’s next adventure took Dale and Mary to Maui, followed six years later by a move to Kirkland, Washington, where they bought a beautiful home and settled into life together.
Dale worked for Osborne Construction, TBI Construction, Alaska Logistics, and Hoffmann Construction. Passionate about his vocation, Dale gave his all at work and pursued further education to advance his career.
Dale loved all animals, and especially cats. His second favorite thing was watching sports—college, NFL, and Fantasy Football. But the Hawkeyes always were in his heart, along with his life-long friends from Fredericksburg. He also enjoyed music, particularly the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and The Grateful Dead.
Dale loved being at home, he loved his time with Mary, and he loved her home-cooking. He always was ready for the next adventure. His wicked sense of humor and his quick mind will be missed by many—at home, at work, and at play.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Arlen and Constance Mohr. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Kirkland, Washington, and his brother Lawrence (Carla Marcus) of Scarborough, Maine.
We went to Fredericksburg High School with Dale. He was a grade below us. We always enjoyed his friendship & was a great guy! Our thoughts & prayers are with you & Larry! Prayers & hugs! Randy & Brenda(Steege)Davis❤️
Very nice Video Tribute put together for what looked like a life well lived. I did not know Dale, but I did know his father and mother and I golfed many of rounds of golf with his dad Arlen, and he would talk often about Dale and his brother Larry. Wishing the best to his family and friends. God Bless, Klel Harris
