Dale L. Aikey age 61 of Plainfield, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 5, 2014, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly, with Rev. David Schatz celebrating the mass. Friends may greet the family 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at the church in Waverly. Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua is in charge of arrangements. Dale Leonard Aikey was born January 5, 1953, in Waverly, IA, the son of Keith and Lenora (Colburn) Aikey. He attended school in Plainfield, and graduated from the Plainfield High School in 1971. Dale starting farming the family farm with his brother and dad where they milked cows and grew crops. Dale was introduced to Barb Duncan, and the couple were married at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo. To this union one son and two daughters were born. Dale and Barb bought a farm together near Plainfield. Dale worked his farmland and also worked at IBP, which now is Tyson’s in Waterloo. Dale enjoyed watching movies, hunting and fishing. He loved his 1066 Case International tractor. Dale is survived by his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Melissa Aikey of Plainfield, IA, Janet Aikey of Plainfield, IA; one son, Mark Aikey of Plainfield, IA; mother, Lenora Aikey of Plainfield, IA; and a brother, Dean (Teresa) Aikey of Plainfield, IA. He was preceded in death by his father, Keith in 1996.

  1. I worked with Dale at Tyson. Just learned today that he had passed. So sorry for your loss. He was such a great guy. So nice and friendly. He was very proud of his family. Thoughts and prayers are with you guys.

  2. Mark always told stories about working with his dad on the farm. He talked about working on tractors, cutting wood, and hanging out with his dad. Mark always has a bright and happy smile on his face when he talks about his dad. We all love you Mark and are here for you no matter what! Just give us a call bud! Prayers to your family in this time of sorrow. Your dad will be truly missed.

  3. Mark talked all the time about his dad and everyday he would come up to me and tell me that he helped his the night before with cutting wood. He loved Mark and his family so much and Mark would come to school so full of joy because him and his dad got to hang out after school and work together. We are here for you buddy. We love you Mark. We are all praying for you and your family.

  4. My Dad was a good father to me. We messed around sometimes, we worked on the combine, corn picker, and changed oil together. Sometimes we did feed. I love dad very much. My dad is in heaven.

  5. We remember the fun we had 40+ years ago playing volleyball every weekend in the summer. Several years later we would get together and play cards (500). We will keep those memories in our hearts. We watched Dale grow up, get married and have a family which he loved dearly. Our sympathy goes out to you all! Love, Gail & Geri Aikey

  8. I was so saddened to hear of Dale’s auto collision and the loss of his life. He was a very good man and took care of his family. He loved all of his family and worked hard to provide for them. He was always there to help with his children’s education and came to all your meetings and wanted the best for you. I remember him driving with all of you and helping you learn to drive. He was a super patient man and wanted you to be able to take care of yourselves. He was always willing to listen and to do whatever helped his children. What dedicated father and husband.   9. As a Tyson employee, I had the privilege to work and know Dale! He was the same at work as he was with his family… dedicated, hard working and always a joy!
