Cletus R. Ries age 89, a lifelong New Hampton resident died Monday, July 21, 2025, surrounded by his family.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Washington, with Rev. Chris Podhajsky celebrating the Mass.  Interment with military honors will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, North Washington with his grandchildren serving as pallbearers.

Friends may greet the family 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory in New Hampton where there will be a 7:00 p.m. parish scripture service.  Visitation continues an hour prior to Mass at the church on Tuesday.

  3. I am so very sorry to hear of Cletus passing away ! He was a good friend and neighbor . My kids used to ride with him in the combine, he would see them over the fence and he.would stop to pick them up. Too many of the best neighbors passing away, will keep him in my memories forever !

  5. So very sorry to hear this. Cletus was one of the nicest man I’ve ever met. Steve and him did alot of “business” at the kitchen table over several cups of coffee. At least he told me it was coffee and then he would giggle!! Great memories of a great man. Bless you all..mom and dad are together again.🩷🩵

  6. Many good memories of Cletus and Doris as neighbors. They were always so good to my parents. And I really enjoyed our reconnection when I moved back to new Hampton. They were certainly an inspiration as a loving couple who knew how to work hard and knew how to have the fun times with family and friends.

  9. I have many wonderful memories of Cletus. Growing up in NC, we would make yearly visits to Iowa to visit my grandmother, Anna Zeien, who was Cletus’ neighbor. Visits to Grandma’s house always included visits with Cletus & Doris. It was always such a joy to get to see & catch up with them. I will cherish these memories of friends & family. My sympathy and condolences to his family.
