Clara (Recker) ONeill was born on September 2, 1924 to Clem and Ida (Willenborg) Recker on the family farm near Alta Vista. She attended St. Williams Catholic School in Alta Vista. Clara helped on the family farm and was united in marriage to Joseph ONeill on October 16, 1945 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Alta Vista. After their marriage they farmed west of Alta Vista until 1950 when they moved to their farm east of Elma. She enjoyed time with family and friends, playing cards, watching the Cubs, Vikings and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Clara was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Rosary Society, Alta Vista VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the OEO Club. Clara is survived by four children Kathy (Tim) Kuennen of Iowa Falls, IA; Betty Jo (Bill) Gibbs of Cedar Rapids, IA; Michael (Margie) ONeill of New Hampton and Patrick (Kim) ONeill of Fredericksburg, IA; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; four brothers Al (Madonna) Recker of Alta Vista; Ed Recker of Alta Vista; Leonard Recker of Alta Vista and Joe (Margaret) Recker of New Hampton and several nieces and nephews. She is preceeded in death by her parents; husband Joseph (October 29, 1985); sister Rose Northness; brothers Elmer, Arthur and Herbert. Cemetery: Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Lourdes, Iowa with Derek O'Neill, Nathan O'Neill, Ben Kuenne, Tom Recker, Steve Recker and Mic O'Neill serving as casket bearers. Visitation: Visitation will be 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in Elma with a Scriptural Wake Service at 4:30pm and will continue you one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am on Monday, October 27, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lourdes with Father Ray Atwood as celebrant.

  2. So sorry to hear of your loss. I just recently, a month ago, spoke with Clara at the funeral of my Mother Rosemarie when she came to me at the luncheon. I guess when you leave a small town, the kindness of the people always remember you!!Bless her heart and soulCarol
