Christopher Joseph McCabe age 53 of Mason City, formerly of New Hampton died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Holy Family Parish, New Hampton with Rev. Mark Osterhaus celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Hampton with Dr. Jeff Ernst, Justin Carpenter, Keith Feldman, Mark Murphy, David Lynch and Ryan Hogan serving as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton where there will be a 7:00 p.m. parish scripture service. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Mass at the church. Christopher Joseph McCabe was born August 18, 1960, in Jefferson, IA, the son of Thomas and Barbara (Knobbe) McCabe. He received his education in New Hampton and was a 1978 graduate of the New Hampton High School. He attended the University of Iowa for four years and then began working as a parts manager for the LaFrenz Ford Dealership in Mason City. He later worked for PTI, a subcontractor for the Union Pacific Railroad. Chris loved fishing, hunting, cooking and visiting with friends. He was known as a musky fisherman and was the president of the Heartland Chapter Musky, Inc. He also loved coming to New Hampton and spending time with the family and their pets. Survivors include his mother, Barbara of New Hampton; three sisters, Maureen Valley of Leslie, MO, Margaret McCabe of Owatonna, MN, Colleen McCabe of Ft. Worth, TX; one brother, Maurice McCabe of Owatonna, MN; a niece, Brittany Lightfoot; a nephew, Bernie Lightfoot, both of Ft. Worth, TX; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas McCabe on April 30, 2008.

  4. To Harv’s Family, my deepest sympathy. I would not have met Harv if I hadn’t met Jeff Picken. My son Brian passed away in 1998 at 22 years of age of leukemia(a major Dolphins fan)Now there are 2 Dolphin fans in Heaven. I hope you feel comfort with God’s Love. I know Harv is in a good place. He is a Great Man, could say so much more. We will miss him. That is a great picture of him! Mrs. McCabe, we are part of group we don’t want. Losing a child no matter what is so painful. I have my faith, and i do believe from what Harv had said, you have yours. God Bless you all, pray for the strength that He gives us.
