Cheryl Ann Heideman, 50, of Fredericksburg died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16th at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Fredericksburg with Pastor Marilyn Sargent officiating. Pallbearers will be Cheryl's nephew's, Wade Heideman, Danny Leach, R.J. Ott, Tad Chapin and Nathan Henn. Inurnment will be Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Thursday. Cheryl Ann Heideman was born November 27, 1958 at Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Donald A. and Augusta M. (Hovar) Heideman. She graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1977. She worked at Meinerz as it transitioned to Beatrice Foods and finally ConAgra until its closing. She then worked at Ross Marketing in New Hampton. Cheryl then worked as a customer service representative for Sprint Communication. Her failing health forced her early retirement. Cheryl loved being with her family especially her three grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching and making afghans. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Chris Campbell of Mason City; three grandchildren, Mya, Lexis and Kaiden; five brothers, John of Minnesota, Larry of Elma, Michael of Nashua, Bruce (Darla) of Osage and Dean (Barb) of Cedar Falls; one sister, Lisa (Scott) Chapin of Tripoli; many nieces and nephews. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Augusta; two sisters, Susan Heideman and Virginia Leach.

  1. Dear Amy, I am sorry I could not attend the funeral for your Mom, But I do want you to know that I have made a memorial donation of $10 to the library. She and I became good friends over the past couple of years. One thing I do know is how much she loved you and her grandchildren. God help you in this difficult time. Joan

  2. Amy & Family – I am so very sorry. Even though Cheryl struggled for so many years; I was truly shocked to hear that she had passed. Her monster cookies were the best! It was a pleasure to have her on my team at Sprint and to get to know her on such a personal level. I will cherish all of the memories I had with her. Please let me know if you or the kids need anything from me. It would be my honor to help Cheryl’s family in anyway.

  16. Amy, Lisa, and the Heideman family, We were saddened to hear of Cheryl’s passing. Cheryl and I tried to stay connected since we moved to Arizona through emails and phone conversations. I know this last year has been a battle for her. She bravely fought her cancer recurrence with determination and a positive attitude and will be sadly missed. She was so proud of you Amy and loved being a grandmother to your beautiful children. She would enthusiastically share stories of time spent with them when we talked on the phone. She loved you all so much and wanted to make the most of her time with you. Treasure those memories! May God grant you comfort and peace during this difficult time of loss. God bless you all!   17. Dear Amy & family, Please know that we are thinking of you during this difficult time. Your mom was SUCH A FIGHTER, and she loved you and your children dearly. She will be missed! I will always remember her dedication to the Chickasaw Relay for Life ~ we will be lighting a luminary in her honor at this year’s event. Your Mom and I sat at many track meets together when you and Andrea ran track — through all that lovely spring weather–rain, wind, cold and warm days-whatever-we were there!!
