Charles “Chuck” Earl Speicher, age 72 of New Hampton, IA, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Linn Haven Rehab & Healthcare from injuries sustained in an auto accident on January 28, 2014. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at Hillcrest Baptist & Brethren Church in Fredericksburg with Pastor Todd Yeaton presiding. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg with Robin Grassley, Ronnie Speicher, David Speicher, Kevin Shonka, Larry Schmitt and Dan Kipp serving as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014, at the Hugeback – Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Charles “Chuck” Earl Speicher was born November 14, 1941, in Sumner, IA, the son of Earl and Verla (Haag) Speicher. He attended rural country school and was a1959 graduate of the New Hampton High School. He then worked a few years for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. On June 13, 1964, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton, he married Connie Randall. To this union three sons were born. Chuck worked for several years before purchasing his farm in 1973. Chuck farmed from this time until the day of his accident. Chuck loved motorcycling with the ‘Tuesday group’ and had also ridden on RAGBRAI. He enjoyed racing and snowmobiling with the Chickasaw Sno-riders and collecting old tractors and restoring them. Chuck was an active member of the Chickasaw Cattlemen’s Association and a member of the Northeast Iowa Engine and Power Club. Above all, he loved his family and was proud to be able to farm with them. Survivors include his wife, Connie; two sons, Dan (Carol) Speicher, Richard (Kathy) Speicher, all of New Hampton; four grandchildren, Chelsey (Zack) Woodbeck, Tyler Speicher, Jessica Speicher and Christina Speicher; one brother, Bud (Lila) Speicher, three sisters, Barb (Charles) Grassley of New Hartford, Earlene Nosbisch of Reinbeck and Marlys Hackman of New Hampton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Gary Speicher in 1984.

  1. I would like to send a belated condolence to your family. I had the opportunity to meet Chuck when I was the bookkeeper at the Welding shop in Waucoma, he was such a great guy. Alway had a smile on his face and a nice word to say. I am sure he will be missed by many. As I look as his picture I smile and think of the him as the man I knew back then.   12. When Chuck stopped in at the office, all worked stopped while we visited with him. He was certainly entertaining and loved to talk about biking, motorcycling, traveling and everything else that he had a vast knowledge of and certainly an opinion. I miss those visits along with his corny jokes. To Chuck’s family – you have lost a good man and we know you will miss him. Thank you for sharing him with all of us. You have our deepest sympathy.

  14. Yes Verna. The same was true when he would stop at the bank. The day before his accident was an especially nice visit, and he seemed so happy and content. He is being missed.
