Charles Boyle, age 72, of New Hampton, Iowa formerly of Elma, Iowa passed away at his residence in New Hampton. Charles Francis Boyle was born on April 9, 1941 to Charles and Clara (Knippling) Boyle in Elma, Iowa. He attended country school and was a 1959 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Elma. In 1963, Charles enlisted in the Army National Guard and received his honorable discharge in 1969. He was united in marriage to Barbara Wenig on September 19, 1964 at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma. Charles farmed the Boyle family farm until his retirement. He was also employed at Featherlite Trailer Manufacturing for 12 years as a security guard. Charles enjoyed playing golf, gardening, playing cards-especially bridge, going to his grandchildren's events, spending time with family and friends and wintering in Arizona. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Elma, Knights of Columbus and the Elma Country Club. Charles is survived by his wife, Barbara Boyle of New Hampton, IA; his children, Matthew (Diane) Boyle of Waterloo, IA, Norbert (Lori) Boyle of Ackley, IA, Lisa (Keith) Barnett of Iowa Falls, IA, Randy Boyle of Norwalk, IA and Brian (JoHanna) Boyle of Cottage Grove, MN; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sisters, Norma Buckley of Elma, IA and Judy (Ron) Hillsman of Waterloo, IA; his brother, John (Ardel) Boyle of Elma; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Eleanor, Bernice, Patrick, Madonna, Marjorie and James.

  8. Paul Harvey had Charles and his brothers in mind when he gave that inspirational So God Made a Farmer speech in 1978. I had the privilage learning agriculture from these men, something I cherish now although not as a farmer, but someone that can appreciate the good works Farmers do everyday.   9. There are so many happy memories of your dear loved one there just isnt room enough here to mention them all. I will just say that Chuck was the perfect example of what a Christian Father is. His love of God and all of you showed brightly in his life. He just made everyone feel at home, safe and secure. He will is greatly missed, but Praise The Lord, well get to see him someday. I liked the title “gentle giant” from a previous postthat describes him perfectly as I think about him when I was growing up. Now I envision him clapping and dancing with the angels on the streets of gold with the rest of his family already there. Wish we could be there to support and share the burden of loss today but the weather is not cooperating. May Gods peace be with us all.
