Cecil Guy Pierson was born November 28, 1913, in rural Chickasaw County, IA, the son of Guy and Jennie (Huffman) Pierson. He received his education in rural country schools and was a graduate of the Nashua High School in 1931. As a young man he learned to farm along-side his father. On December 25, 1961, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua, he married Olive Marie Tolle. Olive had a young son, Lloyd, from a previous marriage and he was adopted by Cecil. The couple had no more children. Cecil lived and farmed east of Nashua for many years and retired into town, later in life. Cecil was also a bus driver for several years. In 1967, they moved to Charles City where Cecil began working in maintenance for the former Salisbury Chemical Company. He fully retired in 1979. His wife, Olive, died on October 20, 1998, just shy of her 75th birthday. Cecil had a lifelong love of farming and made his yearly ‘crop checks’ with his son and daughter-in-law. He also enjoyed automobiles and tractors, especially Farmall's and Allis-Chalmers. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Little Brown Church. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and NASCAR Fan. Survivors include one son, Lloyd (Linda) Pierson of Charles City; two grandchildren, Clinton L. Pierson of Big Lake, MN and Kelley Pierson of Nashua; three sisters-in-law, Nelda Shepherd of Charles City, Mabel Chudyk of Canada and Lillian Swain of Newton, IA.
