Carol M. Jirak, age 64, of New Hampton, IA died on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN. Carol May Schwickerath was born on April 2, 1944 to Louis and Orella (Stansberry) Schwickerath on the family farm near New Hampton. Carol graduated from New Hampton High School in 1962. She attended beauty school and operated her own beauty shop in Lawler for several years. Later she received her associates degree from Calmar. Carol was united in marriage on January 6, 1968 in New Hampton to David Jirak. The couple then resided on a farm north of Lawler until their divorce. Carol then moved into New Hampton where she has lived ever since. Carol enjoyed crafts, playing cards, visiting with friends and family and spending time with her grandchildren. Carol was a member of St. Josephs Center-Holy Family Parish. Carol is survived by her four children Tina (Tim) Orvis of Lawler, IA, Mark Jirak of Shell Rock, IA, Tony Jirak of Lawler, IA and Mary Jo Jirak of Austin, MN; three grandchildren Taylor Jirak, Ethan Orvis and Jonah Orvis; a sister Ardel (John) Boyle of Elma, IA; a brother Gerald (Janet) Schwickerath of Mora, NM; a sister-in-law Louise Schwickerath of New Hampton, IA; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law Jill; a grandson Kane; a brother John Schwickerath. Cemetery: Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at New Hampton. Visitation: Visitation will be 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton with a 4:30pm Rosary and a Scriptural Wake Service at 5:30pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Hampton, Iowa with Father Carl Schmitt as celebrant.
