  1. So sorry to read of Carl’s death. My grandfather, George Fiene, and mother, Dorothy (Fiene … married to Clark) Prudhon always expressed the highest regards of Carl and Alice. We stopped at the home place, as we referred to where he and Alice lived while I was a young boy, in 2009 when Dad and I made a visit to Nashua. My mother and uncle were born on the farm. He was most gracious in visiting us when we dropped in. He and Leona picked some asparagus from the patch Grandpa Fiene had planted. We all enjoyed soup back in Wisconsin made with that asaragus. Carl got a good laugh from me, a city boy of 8 or 9 (around 1958), leaning over a short fence in the farrowing shed to pick up a piglet. I was expecting something soft like a stuffed animal. I was warned to grab hard and hold on. So I did. For a moment. The sow turned with a grunt when her piglet squealed. Quite a commotion. I quickly dropped little piglet. I always tried hard after that to not play the role of a city boy. But everyone else got a good natured laugh, including Carl. I appreciate his visit with us when we brought my father’s body to Greenwood in mid January last year. Deepest sympathy to the family

  2. Joyce, I am so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. I rented a house from him in Nashua years ago when I moved back here. I enjoyed dealing with him and we talked alot. I always asked him about you and he kept me filled in. He was a swell guy and a good landlord. Take care and my deepest sympathy and prayers are with you and your family. ‘Buffy’

  3. We were neighbors of Carl & Leona in Florida. We enjoyed Carl’s dry sense of humor. We interviewed him for the park newspaper. When asked for his secret to longivity was he replied ‘Be nice to all the ladies’. He will be missed.

  4. What a sad day.Carl was a very special neighbor and friend. I was so lucky to live across the road from Him and Alice and later Leona. We had good talks by the mailbox, and around the garden & he was always eager to share his harvest. He was a special guy and will be missed. Our sympathy to you all. Charlie & Twila

  5. Carol and all of the Smith Family, I was saddened to see the news of your Father’s death. I remember Carl and Alice from many activities in the Republic Community, as well as at square dancing party’s at LLoyd Frazee’s in Bassett. Carl’s smile and laughter will be missed. God bless you all in your time of sorrow. Roger D. and Eileen Peterson, Florida

  6. Many wonderful things can be said of Carl. He cherished his family, was a successful farmer, loved to garden, a hard worker… but also he was a great friend. His smile and witt could brighten anyone’s day in an instant. I will forever treasure all of the years we have been honored to have him as a part in our lives. There are no words to explain how deeply our saddened our hearts are to have to say goodbye to him. Such a dear, sweet, sweet man. God has truly gained an angel. From the bottom of our hearts, we are genuinely sorry for your loss.

  7. Our family was saddened to hear of the death of Carl. We extend our condolences and sympathy to family and friends. We were close neighbors and best friends of Carl and his family for many years. He was a close friend and would always be the first to help us or anyone who needed help. Carl was a devoted family man and worked very hard to see that they were well taken care of. He loved farming and in later years raised a large garden and gave most of the produce away. He will be greatly missed but in the last few months he went through a lot of pain. However, he never complained about it. Our prayers are with you. Ralph and Shirley Feuchtwanger and family

  8. One important thing is that if you are searching for a education loan you may find that you’ll want a co-signer. There are many cases where this is true because you should find that you do not employ a past credit rating so the bank will require you have someone cosign the financial loan for you. Thanks for your post.
