Brenda S. Rapenske, age 49 of Picayune, MS formerly of Elma, IA passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at her home in Picayune. Brenda Sue was born March 9, 1966 to Jack and Linda (Laue) Rapenske in Osage, IA. She was raised by Pat and Linda (Laue) Fogarty in Elma, IA. Brenda attended elementary school in Elma and graduated from Crestwood High School in Cresco. After graduating she moved to Waterloo and worked various jobs. In 1994, Brenda returned to the New Hampton area where she worked at Featherlite Mfg. in Nashua. In 2001, she moved to the New Orleans area. While working construction she purchased a fishing boat and was a commercial fisher in the crabbing industry until Hurricane Katrina devastated the gulf coast when she lost everything. After Katrina, Brenda worked at helping others rebuild their homes, businesses, and lives before she returned to her own. In recent years, Brenda and Duane were able to return to commercial fishing. She enjoyed gardening, raising chickens and dogs. Brenda is survived by her Significant other Duane Soileau of Picayune, MS; father, Pat Fogarty of New Hampton, IA; daughter, Amy (Jessie Houser) Fogarty of New Hampton, IA; grandchildren, Levi, Dylan, Dakota; Siblings, Tony (Jennifer) Rapenske of Elma, IA, Randy (Joyce) Rapenske of New Hampton, IA, Angie Dirksen of Riceville, IA, P.J. Fogarty of Altoona, IA, Karen Thomas of Serials, MO and Robin Gregory of Frankfort, NY; and numerous members of her extended family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Fogarty; grandparents; aunts and uncles.
