Beverly J. Jacobs age 79 of Ionia, Iowa, died Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare in New Hampton.
Friends may greet the family from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 2015, at Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton.
Beverly Jean Jacobs was born November 20, 1935 in Charles City, the daughter of Claude and Jennie (Nelson) Watkins. She attended school in Charles City, IA and then went on to babysit some of her younger nieces and nephews. She lived in Minneapolis and worked at a sewing company for a few years before meeting the love of her life, Johnny Jacobs on a blind date in 1956. While Johnny was stationed with the U.S. Air Force, he would write to Beverly. After he was honorable discharged in 1958, the couple married in Charles City, to this union one daughter was born.
The couple then moved to the country to take over Johnny’s parents farm. They farmed until 1974 when they moved to Ionia. While in Ionia, Beverly worked at the Hideaway and the Ionia Grocery Store. She loved watching baseball and always kept detailed statistics on her beloved Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed reading and had a love for all animals. Cats and dogs always had a special place in Beverly’s heart.
Beverly is survived by one daughter, Connie (Jim) Flick of Ionia, IA; three grandchildren, Jammie (Scott) Ackerson of Cedar Falls, IA, Jessie (Doug) Holm of Charles City, IA, Chad Flick of Ionia, IA; three great-grandchildren, Dane Ackerson, Carson Holm, Cooper Holm; one brother Jerry Watkins of Charles City, IA; one brother-in-law; five sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Johnny in 2013; her parents; six brothers; five sisters; nine brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.

Beverly was a gem. Always happy and smiling. She had the best laugh. She is now in heaven reunited with Johnny. I am sure they are having a great time. Love and prayers to all. She will be missed. Bill and Linda Flick.
My Aunt Beverly was a kind and compationate person. I remember her laugh well and the hugs she gave to me after visiting her and my Uncle John at their home in Ionia when my parents Jerry and Maxine Watkins went to see them. When our daughter Stephanie was little she came to visit my mom and dad in Charles city when we were visiting she had bought our daughter a doll that had a croquet outfit on to this day we still have that doll. I will never forget her and my heart and love go out to Connie, Jim, the grandkids and great grandkids she will be missed greatly. Love Jeannie (Watkins) Eekhoff.

My Aunt Bev was one of a kind. She was so much fun to be around and I always enjoyed any time spent with her (and Uncle John). I’ll never forget how she loved her baseball games. She loved her family very much and was always willing to show new pictures she had of them. I know losing Uncle John was very hard for her, but now they have been reunited (what a great gift) along with many other family members who have gone on to their heavenly home. I know Connie, Jim, her grand kids, and her great grands will miss her very much as will the rest of her family. I look forward to the day that I will get to see her again. Bev was a wonderful person. That laugh of hers was just contagious. She will be missed in the community of Ionia.
