Bev was born on November 28, 1952 in Springfield, Oregon, to Kenneth and Roberta (Seger) Maxfield. After graduating from Sheldon High School in Springfield, she attended Northwest Christian College. At NCC, she and Doug Harvey met, and on June 15, 1974 they were married. To this union two sons were born.
After college, Bev and Doug embarked on a transcontinental adventure. They left Oregon for Kentucky, where Bev worked for the Kentucky Council of Churches while Doug attended seminary. They then served in two churches, Jonathan Creek Christian Church near Sullivan, Illinois, and First Christian Church of Panhandle Texas. While in Sullivan, Bev worked in the Moultrie Country assessor’s office. In Texas, Bev opened and ran a private preschool for thirteen years, then she found her true passion as a florist. She worked at a flower shop in Texas, until moving to Mt. Zion, Illinois where she continued to find joy in her profession as a florist until her retirement, while active at First Christian Church of Decatur. In 2015, Bev and Doug moved to New Hampton, Iowa, where they have been serving together at Harvest Church.
Bev's zest for life and love for the Lord were evident to everyone who knew her.
Bev and Doug have two grown sons, Matt, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Ryan (and Emilee) of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is survived by her husband, sons, daughter-in-law, and two sisters, K-Lee Maxfield of Salem, Oregon, and Debby Maxfield of Portland, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Bev and Doug were such an important and encouraging part of my church and in our family’s life in Panhandle. Bev’s fun sense of humor was contagious and I know she will be greatly missed. My daughter attended her preschool and loved it! I wish we were closer to give Doug and Matt and Ryan hugs! We love you guys and are praying for comfort for all!
Bev, I will never forget your infectious laugh and stories. Lots of love to the family from a JCreeker-until we meet again.

Bev, what can I say about Bev? She was a precious gem. I’ve only know her for a little over 2 years and am blessed by that. Loved her spunk, laugh, and the numerous funny stories she told. Going to miss her at Tue night Bible study and Sunday school. I have learned so much from her. Such a Godly woman. She’s in the arms of Jesus now, with no oxygen tubes, no walker, and NO CANCER! Love you Miss Bev, and will miss you like crazy. Until we meet again…

My prayers are with you all as we all say goodbye here on earth. I knew Bev only a short time, and could see the Light of the Lord shine through her. I am sorry for her loss here in earth, but happy for Heaven’s gain! Thank you for your servant’s heart! Rolene Barnhart
Bev – your loving heart has unquestionably touched such a vast number of people. I am so grateful to be one of those. Having you as a friend at NCC was priceless. I can never read the book of James without thinking of you. You leave wonderful memories forever. Love to all your family!
