Beverly Ann Barnes age 79 of Fredericksburg, IA died Friday, July 12, 2024, at Hillcrest Home in Sumner, IA.

Beverly Barnes, age 79 of Fredericksburg, IA died Friday 7/12/2024 at  Sumner Hillcrest Living. 

A private family service will be held on Wednesday, 7/17/2024 at Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, IA followed by a graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Fredericksburg, IA. 

Born on March 2, 1945, to Harrison and Verla (Fordyce) Hegland in  Marshalltown, IA. Beverly was one of seven children. Wanda (Ronald)  Rodgers, Wayne Hegland, Ricky (Linda) Hegland, Ronnie (Rhonda)  Hegland, Brenda Hegland and Randy (Kim) Hegland. 

Beverly met and married Lawrence J. Barnes Sr. “Larry”, on August 18, 1963, in Myrtle Beach, SC working in a local restaurant. After getting married they had two children, Chandler and Lawrence J. Barnes, Jr., “Joe”. They moved to Batesville, MS for a short time then moved to West Union, IA where they added two more children to their family, Jeffrey Barnes and Tara Barnes  Garthoff. Then settled in Fredericksburg, IA. Beverly worked at the Beatrice plant in Fredericksburg for a few years, then eventually went to work at Kwik Star in New Hampton for an additional 15 years in the kitchen. 

Beverly loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren,  and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed the many pets they had throughout the years. 

Beverly is survived by her husband, Lawrence J. Barnes, Sr, sons Chandler  Barnes of New Hampton, IA, Lawrence J. Barnes, Jr of Clarksville, IA,  Jeffrey (Christine) Barnes of Lancaster, SC and Tara (Craig) Garthoff of  Clarksville, IA. 

Beverly was preceeded in death by her parents, Harrison and Verla (Fordyce)  Hegland, brothers, Wayne Hegland, Ricky Hegland, Ronnie Hegland &  grandson Brandon Kane.

    • Didn’t think anything could take Bev down. Always there for her family. Hope Heaven is ready for this. Rick, Ron, and Bev together again, may be quite the celebration. Love to all, wish I could be there to see everyone!

  8. I worked with Bev at Kwik Star, I teased her a lot, but she loved it. I used to call her 1902…she would just laugh. She will be misssed. My sympathy to Bev’s family I know that she loved you all.
