Bernice Thelma Cutsforth age 87 of Fredericksburg, formerly of Lawler, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center - New Hampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2016, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler with Rev. Kyle Digmann celebrating the Mass. Interment will be held in the church cemetery with Brian Rewoldt, Bruce Rewoldt, Brenda Husted, Dawn Hucke, Tony Cutsforth, Brad Rewoldt, Chad Cutsforth, and Troy Cutsforth serving as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday afternoon. Bernice Thelma Cutsforth was born April 6, 1929, in rural Lawler, IA, the daughter of Thron and Bertha (Ehret) Throndson. She attended country school in rural Lawler until the 8th grade. Bernice was introduced to Merlin Cutsforth and the couple were married July 22, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Reilly Ridge. To this union four children were born. Initially the couple lived in New Hampton for a couple of years before moving to Lawler in 1950. Bernice was a renown pizza maker in the area. She worked at Grove's, Straw's, and Kolby's in New Hampton; and Cutsforth's and Pronto in Lawler. All together Bernice had over 40 years of experience cooking pizzas in Northeast Iowa. Bernice enjoyed babysitting and loved watching her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and occasionally would watch other children in the Lawler area. Family was everything to Bernice and she cherished spending as much time as possible with them. Bernice is survived by two sons, Ben (Laurie) Cutsforth of Lawler, IA, Len (Sue) Cutsforth of Lawler, IA; 8 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ardis King of Fredericksburg, IA, Helen (Jack) Whalen of Lawler, IA; sister-in-law, Mrs. Harlan Throndson of Lawler, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thron and Bertha Throndson; husband, Merlin Cutsforth; two daughters, Marlys Rewoldt, and Carol in infancy; four brothers, Clarence, Irvin, Harlan, and Robert Throndson.
