Bernard A. Lake, ‘Bernie’ to his friends, passed away on June 7, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. Bernie was a much loved husband and father, known for his kind heart and love of both children and animals. He was born in Park Grove, MT on May 25, 1937. He grew up and graduated high school in Malta, MT. He enjoyed many summers at Nelson’s Reservoir with family and friends, where he and his father built and raced boats. Bernie enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on January 25, 1956 and served in Korea. He attended Brown Institute and graduated with an Associate's degree in Business Administration in September, 1989. He had many talents and worked at Boeing in Everett, WA, worked on drilling machinery in MT, sold men’s suits in MT and MN, and retired from Girard’s Business Solutions, Inc in Burnsville, MN as their warehouse manager. Bernie married Doris Buls on December 31, 1988. They lived in Apple Valley, MN where they had one son Joseph ‘Joey’ Lake. After retirement Bernie and Doris moved to Osage, IA. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Gladys (Hanson) Lake, brother, Gerald Lake, and sister, Karen Lake. He is survived by his wife, Doris, and son, Joey (wife, Jessica) Lake of Farmington, MN, and sister, Myrna (husband, Junior) Perkins of Miles City, MT. Interment with Color Guard honors at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Tripoli, IA on July 23rd. A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion in Rosemount, MN on August 27th from 1-4 pm.

  1. Remembering my brother, Bernie, with great affection and many good memories of growing up together. Sincerest sympathy to sister-in-law Doris and nephew Joey and Jessica. We will all miss his presence.
