Barbara Ann Blong age 54 of Waucoma, Iowa died suddenly Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waucoma, with Rev. David Beckman celebrating the Mass. Barbara's husband and parents will place the pall. Lector for the service will be Maxine Balk. Bruce Lampe and Brenda Havens, Barbara's brother and sister, will present the offertory gifts. Interment will be in St. Rose Cemetery, rural Waucoma, with Bobby Zeien, Gary Lampe, Artie Havens, Charles Franzen, Donny Blong and Pat Balk serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary and 6:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Mass at church on Wednesday. Barbara Ann Blong was born April 24, 1956, in New Hampton, Iowa the daughter of Vernon and Joanne (Parson) Lampe. She received her education in Fredericksburg and in 1974, graduated from the Fredericksburg High School. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a nurses aid. On October 23, 1982, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waucoma, she married Raymond Gilbert Blong. The couple operated their dairy farm together until heath became a concern in 2009 and they sold the herd. Barbara enjoyed time on the farm and loved being around the cows and calves as well as her dogs. When not working on their farm, the couple enjoyed going out to eat and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. Survivors include her husband, Raymond; her parents, Vernon and Joanne Lampe of Lawler; one brother, Bruce (Betty) Lampe of Ionia; one sister, Brenda (Art) Havens of New Hampton; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

I have been thinking about alot of memories from when we were kids!!! She will be truly missed, she was a special gal. We just have to remember she is resting in a much better place now.
