Barb K. Lawson was born November 17, 1938, in Fairfield, IA, the daughter of Harold and Jeanette (Wichart) Buchanan. Barb was raised on a farm and she received her education in rural country school near Libertyville, IA. While working as a waitress in Fairfield, she met a customer and the future love of her life. On June 30, 1956, in Kahoka, MO, she married Thomas M. Lawson. To this union six children were born. Barb was a full-time mother and caretaker for her continuing growing family. She loved cooking and baking and making sure the holidays were special for her family. A very memorable trip was a ‘late honeymoon’ she and Thomas took to the western United States visiting Yellowstone National Park. She especially enjoyed watching and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include five daughters, Linda Lawson (Ray Bryan) of Horton, IA, Nancy (John) Birmingham, Sheryl Rollins, Judy (Chris) Lee, all of Nashua, Joyce (Travis) Bohy of Eagle Grove, IA; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Lankford of Sac City, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on November 5, 1995; a daughter, Sandra Lawson in infancy and a step-son, Keith Brown.
