Barb K. Lawson age 74 of Nashua, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012, at the Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012, at the Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in Nashua with Pastor Okitakoyi Lundula of the United Methodist Church, Nashua, presiding. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Nashua, with Tim Birmingham, Andy Birmingham, Joshua Cordes, Cody Cordes, Shane Vossberg, Justin Vossberg, Adam Rollins and Connor Lee serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Ashley Mundorf, Holly Randell, Sara McGreevey, Kallie Cordes, Kristen Lee and Erin Duncomb. Friends may greet the family beginning at 12:00 noon on Friday at the funeral home. Barb K. Lawson was born November 17, 1938, in Fairfield, IA, the daughter of Harold and Jeanette (Wichart) Buchanan. Barb was raised on a farm and she received her education in rural country school near Libertyville, IA. While working as a waitress in Fairfield, she met a customer and the future love of her life. On June 30, 1956, in Kahoka, MO, she married Thomas M. Lawson. To this union six children were born. Barb was a full-time mother and caretaker for her continuing growing family. She loved cooking and baking and making sure the holidays were special for her family. A very memorable trip was a ‘late honeymoon’ she and Thomas took to the western United States visiting Yellowstone National Park. She especially enjoyed watching and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include five daughters, Linda Lawson (Ray Bryan) of Horton, IA, Nancy (John) Birmingham, Sheryl Rollins, Judy (Chris) Lee, all of Nashua, Joyce (Travis) Bohy of Eagle Grove, IA; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Lankford of Sac City, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on November 5, 1995; a daughter, Sandra Lawson in infancy and a step-son, Keith Brown.
