Arthur Bohr

Arthur J. Bohr age 77, of New Hampton passed away peacefully with his family around him at his home.
Arthur John Bohr was born on June 14, 1931 to John and Anna (Heying) Bohr on the family farm near Ossian, Iowa. He attended St. Francis De Sales School in Ossian. Art was employed by Becker Hardware in Ossian until he entered the U.S. Army in 1951, serving his country during the Korean Conflict.He recieved his honorable discharge in 1953. Art was united in marriage to Frances Rings on April 20, 1954 at Immaculate Conception Church in North Washington, Iowa. The couple farmed five miles west of New Hampton where they raised three children. Arts wife, Frances, died on October 26, 1972 and he continued to farm. He was united in marriage to Janis Boos on December 30, 1979 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in New Hampton. Later Art was employed by Boos Implement until he retired. Art enjoyed dancing, playing cards, farming, gardening, traveling and his family. He was a member of Holy Family Parish St. Joseph Center.
He is survived by his children Ron (June) Bohr of Riceville, IA, Al (Tracy) Bohr of New Hampton, and Lavonne (Brett) Ohm of New Hampton; stepdaughter Barb (Gary) Haughenbury of Marion, IA; stepsons Dennis (Sheryl) Boos of New Hampton, Duane (Kim) Boos of New Hampton and Dan (Nancy) Boos of Eagan, Minnesota; 21 grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters Lucy (Tony) Schissel of New Hampton and Sister Janet Bohr of Petersburg, IA; brothers John (Sheila) Bohr of Waterloo, IA, Luke (Kathy) Bohr of Decorah, IA and Leroy (Shirley) Bohr of Ossian, IA; sisters-in-law Marilyn Bohr of Ossian, IA, Lorrena Bohr of Waucoma, IA, Annette (Karl) Wiltgen of Ossian, IA; Luella (Harold) Glaser of New Hampton, Leone Roberson of New Hampton and Joanie Weber of New Hampton; brothers-in-law Lester Hageman of Ft. Atkinson, IA and Roger Rings of New Hampton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents John and Anna Bohr; his first wife Frances and his second wife Janis on December 27, 1994; sisters Clarita, Luella, Sister Norma Jean and Lois Hageman; brothers Carl, Mark and Kenneth; sister-in-law Mary Jo Rings; and brothers-in-law Orville Roberson and Robert Weber.

Cemetery:
Burial will be in Calvary Cemeteryat New Hampton with grandchildren Becky Bohr, Tricia Bohr, Kayla Bohr, Jared Bohr, Tim Bohr and Blake Ohm serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are John and Deb Reicherts, Paul and Lucy Hereid, Jerome and Carlene Kuhn and Joe and Joanne Sheehy serving as honorary casket bearers. Military honors by New Hampton American Legion Fae Stine Post #38.
Visitation:
Visitation will be held 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, June 8, 2009 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home with a rosary at 4:30pm and a Scriptural Wake service at 6:00pm and will continue one hour prior to the service at the St. Josephs Gathering Center.
Service:
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30am on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Holy Family Parish St. Joseph Center in New Hampton with Msgr. Carl Schmitt and Father Richard Gaul as celebrants.
