April Ann Martin was born April 22, 1958, in Charles City, the daughter of Doyle and Lola (Willert) Johnson. She attended the Nashua High School. She was united in marriage to Gerry Lee Martin Jr. To that union two children were born, Adrian Lee and Lacey April. April loved being a mom and spending time outdoors. In the spring she would look for those elusive morels! She loved fishing with the family and in recent years enjoyed the many filets caught on the Mississippi by Andy's family. April spoke daily to her daughter on the phone about life, love or nothing at all - and lived for those chats. She loved her job at ICAN, an agency assisting the mentally challenged in Waseca, MN.
Survivors include her children; Adrian Lee (Marie) Martin of Lansing, IA, Lacey April (Ransom) Priebe of Alpha, IA; three grandchildren, Thomas Lee Martin, Anthony Levi Martin and Allyvia Lucille Martin; one sister, Patty (Dan) Bilharz; four brothers, Dean (Terri) Johnson, Scott Johnson, David (Lori) Johnson and Todd (Robin) Johnson; many cousins, nieces nephews, aunt and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, one sister, Teresa Johnson; one nephew, Dyllan Johnson and Fred, her loving Dachshund.
April, tonight was the first night that I’ve heard of you being gone and I’m still in disbelief. You had the kindest soul, and the biggest heart. You were such a joy to be around and always had great stories to share with me. There’s so many things I wish I could say or tell you but it’s just so hard to get out there. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. Rest in peace beautiful angel. This is not goodbye forever. Love, Tanya.
I worked with April at Casey’s when I was in high school. She was a blast work with and she will be missed by many. My condolences to the Martin family in this time of loss.
This is Marie, Andy’s wife. Andy is April’s oldest child. For the past 15 years, April has been the grandest of grandmothers. Cards, visits, and phone calls have been treasured events for mine and Andy’s children. No words can express how this loss has affected us. This life changing event has made us want to be a stronger family. We want to make time for more family we have been estranged from. I think April would love us all to be together more then we have been. She was a wonderful person who chose her words wisely to always make everyone feel special; important. She will be dearly missed. Thank every single one of you for your condolences and beautiful words of encouragement. Bless you all in the new year and may health and happiness be with you always:-)
I had the privilege of working with April at Brown Printing in Waseca, she was a great friend, talked often about her kids and how much she loved them. April was a neat person, she always made you feel special, she introduced me to her mother whom she loved and spent a lot of time with, it was a hard loss for her. I’m so sorry for your loss, when our daughter passed away April came over and was a great friend through it all, I have a lot of good memories of her as I’m sure your family does. Always treasure your memories!
