Anna Qualley

Anna Mae Qualley age 85 of Jerico, IA, died Tuesday morning, December 31, 2013, at her home.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Pastor Kevin Frey presiding. Friends may greet the family an hour prior to the service at the church.
Anna Mae Qualley was born August 3, 1928, in rural Jerico, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Olson) Halvorson. She attended the local country schools during her younger years. Later, Anna went to New Hampton High School and graduated with the class of 1946. After High School she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Charles City Welfare Office, and at the Key Overall Company in New Hampton.
A few years after high school, she married the love of her life, Harlan Qualley on October 2, 1949 at the Crane Creek Lutheran Church; two this union four children were born Dave, Bruce, Sharon, and Susan. Anna worked hard all her life. She worked side by side with her husband in their family businesses Qualley Produce and Qualley Feed & Grain, Inc.
Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years; Harlan Qualley; two sons; David Qualley, Bruce Qualley, both of Jerico; two daughters; Sharon (Richard) Schuchhardt, Susan Geerts, both of Jerico; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister; Jeanne Huber of New Hampton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson; Benjamin Qualley; two brothers; Hartley Halvorson, Bernard Halvorson.
Blessed to have such a sweet great grandma. Such a thoughtful and kind lady. You’ll be missed dearly. I’d liked to give my condolences to the rest of the family as I may not make it back to Iowa.
My condolences to Anna Mae’s family. Anna Mae was truly a wonderful person. She was wise and kind and witty and never had a harsh word for anyone. How I enjoyed our little visits whenever I went to Qualley’s to get eggs or other supplies! Judy Roberson

My sympathies to the Qualley family. I remember Anna Mae as being one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She would come into Kolby’s restaurant with her girl friends every week and I would be her waitress. She was always so nice and always smiling. Linda Burrichter

So sorry to hear about Annie…..have lots of great memories from when we were kids. I will never forget her chasing me around the yard in Jerico and pulling my 2 front teeth out! Probably saved me from braces:). You all have my deepest sympathy, it is never easy losing someone you love.

This woman was truly amazing. She always was a great grandma to my children, And a greatgrandma to my grandchildren,mother-in-law , ex mother-in-law to me. She was truly a blessing for me when my son Ben was facing cancer and later passed away. She was a life saver to me and my girls.. But she is in heaven with Ben and she can give him lots of kisses and hugs for us. Loved her and will miss her Rose Qualley
Condolences to the all the Qualley family. We have missed seeing her at the public library as she chose several romances and took them home in her little paper bag. We had many interesting conversations and enjoyed them very much.
