Anna Usher

Anna J. Usher age 95 of Nashua died Thursday morning, December 30, 2010, at the Cedar Vale Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday January 4, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua with Rev. Okitakoyi Lundula officiating. Nelda Shepard will be the organist accompanying Janice Edson, vocalist. Interment will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City with Dean Usher, Steve Usher, Greg Lindeman, Dana Usher, Chet Usher, Scott Usher and Tom Usher as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. Monday evening, January 3, 2011, at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua. Further visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Anna Jennieveve Usher was born December 25, 1915, near Bassett, Iowa the daughter of Ernest Clayton and Huldah (Case) Bigelow. She was raised on a farm near Bassett and graduated from grade school. She was a 1934 graduate of the Nashua High School. Anna also taught rural country school for four years. On December 16, 1937, she was united in marriage to Ray J. Usher at the Methodist Parsonage in Preston, MN. In 1975, after raising her family she joined her husband in the insurance business until retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Nashua United Methodist Church and the Chickasaw Historical Society. Anna enjoyed crafts and helping out in the Bradford House Museum and Gift Shop. She is survived by her five sons, Richard (Dorothy) Usher in Cameron, MO, Larry (Rory) Usher in Mora, MN, Dennis Usher of Charles City, Galen (Dorothy) Usher of Watauga, TX and Ronald (Kathy) Usher of Capron, IL; 17 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Taylor of Ankeny, IA and Wilma Crandall of Charles City; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn Bigelow of Cedar Falls, Marie Bigelow of Nashua and Gloria Bigelow of Costa Mesa, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray in 2001; one daughter, Joyce Friensenberg; great granddaughter Christy; six brothers, Allen, Bert, Robert, Stanley, Donald and Harold.
