Angela "Angie" Fogarty
June 17, 1976 ~ December 5, 2022
Angie Fogarty, age 46 of Charles City, IA, formerly of New Hampton, IA, died Monday, December 5, 2022, in Charles City.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Rev. Kevin Frey officiating.
Friends may greet the family from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Memorial Service at the church on Wednesday.
Angie was born on June 17, 1976, to Pat and Linda (Laue) Fogarty and raised in Elma, IA before moving to New Hampton when she was in middle school.
She attended school in Cresco where she played the clarinet and was in Band for several years. In 1994, she graduated from New Hampton High School.
Angie worked as a farrowing technician for over 20 years at Iowa Select and Reicks View Farms.
As hard of a worker as she was, though, where she really made her mark was with her family. Angie had three children — Drew, Lexi, and Abby, whom she adored. The kids loved waking up in the morning to their mother cracking a joke, and felt that she was the most selfless, most caring person they knew. Their mother was best known for her distinctive laugh, beautiful smile, and those “Laue eyes” that sparkled.
Angie loved scary movies, watching the TV shows “CSI” and “Forensic Files,” having her breakfast of champions (Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Mountain Dew), and enjoying Jessie’s and Vickie’s cooking or hanging out with family and friends.
She also was a vivacious reader and wrote the most beautiful poetry. Angie had her first poem published when she was in high school and wrote poetry throughout her life. Her poems ranged from deeply personal to capturing her appreciation for nature, to spiritual--as she was working on a book of poems she had titled “Faith for the Broken.”
Angie had a strong bond with not only her children, but her dogs over the years as well. She was the kind of person who loved all of God’s creatures and His canvas, as she called it, and had a very strong faith.
Angie is survived by her three children, Drew Dirksen of Jesup, Alexis Dirksen of Cedar Falls, and Abby Dirksen of Charles City; three brothers, Tony and Randy Rapenske, both of New Hampton, and P.J. Fogarty of Des Moines; one sister, Amy (Jessie Houser) Fogarty of New Hampton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Thomas and Linda (Laue) Fogarty; a daughter, Breylynn Fogarty; sister, Brenda Rapenske; grandparents; aunts and uncles.
