Amos Dale Brandenburg was born December 7, 1924, in rural Wadena, IA, the son of M.R. and Vera Lucille (Lickiss) Brandenburg. He received his education in rural country school near Wadena and was a 1942 graduate of the Alpha High School. In his youth he gained the lifelong love for the game of baseball having played on area town teams. On November 23, 1962, in Hawkeye, he married Jean Arlene Foot. To this union two daughters were born. The couple farmed south of Fredericksburg until moving into their acreage east of town in 1978. Amos never really retired from farming as he continued to go to dairy sales, raise livestock and crops. His work was his hobby. Amos had previously served on the Dairy Board where he had been named grand dairyman. He volunteered many hours in the preservation work done at the local Country School House District 1, was an active member of the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church and enjoyed visiting friends at local care centers. His wife, Jean died on May 24, 2010 at the age of 85. Survivors include two daughters, Julie Allen of New Hampton, Christie (Jim) Schmitt of Ft. Atkinson; three grandchildren, Justin Allen of Cedar Falls, Nicole and Jenna Schmitt of Ft. 1. Julie, Sorry to hear of your recent loss. A dad is especially hard! I didn’t know your dad, but I hear he was pretty special. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.

  2. Julie, Christie and all Amos’ many relatives. It’s heaven’s gain and we are so enriched and proud to have known uncle Amos. God Bless, Val, Cindy, Joey & Seth

  3. Julie, Christie & families, So sorry for your loss. Allan had such a nice conversation with Amos at the Relay this past year-lots of farming talk! I will miss seeing your Dad sitting at the dining room table and sharing a friendly ‘hello’ when I would make deliveries at the Willows after work. God Bless, The franzengang

  4. Julie and Christie, I’m sorry to learn of the passing of your dad and wish to express my sympathy. May he rest in peace and may you and your families also be at peace. I met him a few times when I was ‘home’ (I live in Layton UT) to visit my dad, Henry Budweg, who was in the care center in Fredericksburg and later in New Hampton and your dad (and often your mom too) was there to visit my dad as well. My dad so looked forward to his visits, and your dad told me it was sort of his mission to do this, plus he just liked to visit. How wonderful for everyone! God’s blessings.

  5. Julie & family our deepest sympathy for your loss. May your memories keep your father close to your hearts always. Thoughts & prayers to you and your family. Bob & Rose Otters

  6. Julie and Christie and families, You are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.Tod,Dena, and Zac Palmer

  7. May you find peace and comfort in knowing that Amos was greeted at Heaven’s Gates by Jean and all his favorite people that have gone before him. He fought hard for a long time and now it’s time for him to take his well deserved eternal rest. God’s blessings to you all.
