Aloys Recker
September 2, 1909 ~ June 17, 2009
Aloys Al Recker age 99 of Alta Vista, IA, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the Colonial Manor in Elma, IA.
Aloys Andrew Recker was born on September 2, 1909 to Clem and Ida (Willenborg) Recker in Worthington, IA. In April of 1910 his family moved east of Alta Vista where he was raised. He attended St. Williams School in Alta Vista. After his schooling he farmed northeast of Alta Vista. Al was united in marriage to Madonna Felder on June 7, 1938 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Alta Vista and just recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary with family members. After their marriage the couple continued farming northeast of Alta Vista. After Als retirement in 1980, they moved to Alta Vista. Al continued to be involved in the farming operation all of his life.
Al was a walking history book and loved to talk to anyone interested in the past. His ability to recall names, places, events, and dates marveled those who were talking to him. Neighbors loved to ride along with Al in his signature black 54 Chevy pickup and listen to him tell stories about the people who live in the Alta Vista area.
Al enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas to see the entertainment. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Bernards Catholic Church.
Al is survived by his wife Madonna; four daughters Pat Recker of Kansas City, MO, Mary Jane (Cash) ORourke of Severna Park, Maryland, Rose Marie (Helmut) Bonigut of Paso Robles, CA, and Maggie Rivers of New Holstein, WI; one son Don (Lois) Recker of Mankato, MN; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three brothers Ed Recker, Leonard Recker, and Joe (Margaret) Recker all of Alta Vista.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Rosie Northeness and Clara ONeill; three brothers Art Recker, Herbert Recker and Elmer Recker at age 1 from the flu.

Aunt Madonna, Cousins Pat, Mary Jane, Rose Marie, Margie Don our most heartfelt sympathy to all of you and your families. Whenever we came to Alta Vista to see our own families our stay was not complete without a stop to visit Uncle Al and Aunt Madonna and listen to another story or two from Uncle Al. This is what made memories that we will always cherish. John Marlys Recker Roswell, GA

Madonna, You have our deepest sympathy for your loss. Both of you were truly blessed with 71 years of marriage. We were neighbors across the road for the first four years of our marriage and always thought you were a remarkable couple that was dedicated to each other. We hoped to model our wedded life similar to yours. May God offer you comfort and strength during this sad time. Joe and Sharon Haskovec Phoenix, Arizona
Madonna, Uncle Don girls, we wish you our deepest smypathy. When I first got out of school and was working for Dad we did alot of hauling out of A.V. and always admired Al with his pickup. Both on the way it looked and sounded. Also when I was hauling past Al Madonnas farm even after they retired and moved off you would usually see Al out there and how well he kept up the yard buildings. Al was a good man and is in our thoughts and prayers.
My deepest sympathy to Madonna and family. I recall many good times when growing up that my folks (Matt Dolores Palmersheim) and my brothers Robert, Kenneth, Pat would come to your place to visit and play. These memories I will hold forever and your family played a role in my development. I will keep all of you in my thoughts prayers. Francis Palmersheim Sioux City, IA
