Alma F. Bauer age 88 of Mt. Prospect, IL, formerly of New Hampton died Saturday afternoon, June 1, 2013, at her daughters home in Mt. Prospect. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Holy Family Parish – St. Joseph Center, New Hampton, with Rev. Mark Osterhaus celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Hampton. Friends may greet the family an hour prior to the Mass at the church on Thursday. Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton is in charge of the arrangements. Alma Florence Bauer was born August 25, 1924, in Festina, IA, the daughter of Edmund and Mary (Jacobs) Hageman. She met her future husband at a dance at St. Mary's in Buffalo Grove, Il. On June 25, 1949, in Glenview IL, she married Walter Herman Bauer. To this union two children were born. The couple lived and worked in Techny, IL, at the Divine Word Seminary. She was head cook upon retirement after over 30 years of employment. Cooking was her greatest passion. Walter died on December 23, 2007, at the age of 86. Survivors include one daughter, Betty (Mike) Burden of Mt. Prospect, IL; one son, Jim (Mary) Bauer of Antioch, IL; four grandchildren, Ryan Burden, Kahla Schwall, Nick Schwall and Chris Schwall; one great grandson, Tyler; one brother, Henry (Judy) Hageman of Calmar, IA; one sister, Alice (Jim) Lansing of Fort Atkinson, IA; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hageman of Elk Run Heights. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one brother, Alex Hageman; two sisters, Arlene Franzen and Norma Jean Hageman.
