Albert Wolff, age 86 of Nashua, Iowa died Friday October 9, 2009, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Nashua with Pastor Thomas Hagan officiating. Verna Wiebke will be the vocalist with Lisa Wiebke accompanying her on the organ. The congregation will sing, 'Amazing Grace' and 'What A Friend We Have In Jesus'. Verna will sing, 'God Be With You Til We Meet Again'. Interment will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City with the Nashua VFW Post #6792 providing military honors. Pallbearers will be Al Koenigsfeld, Richard Hall, Ralph Symonds, Benny Goddard, Dave Rodamaker, Ben Damjonovic and Guy Bucknell. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Bruce, Arvid Uitto, Bob Matthiesen, Gordon Newton and Bob Winterink. Friends may call 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2009, at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa Hospice, Honor Flight or the charity of donors choice. Albert William Wolff was born January 6, 1923, in Nashua, Iowa the son of Adolph Gustav and Amelia Wilhemina (Gutzmer) Wolff. He received his education in rural country school. At the age of ten, he and his brother, Adolph “Butch” , age 14, began running the family farm to enable their father to work at the former Hart-Parr Tractor Company in Charles City. He was inducted into the United States Navy on April 7, 1945, and was honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class on August 1, 1946. On January 26, 1946, in Bremerton, WA, he married Merle Irene Bonwell. To this union three children were born. In 1954, the couple moved to their acreage north of Nashua where they lived for over 50 years. The past two years Albert resided at the Cedar Vale Assisted Living in Nashua. Albert worked for the former Oliver and White Farm Tractor retiring after 30 years, had sold real estate and been an auctioneer. In his free time he enjoyed wood-working, playing cards and was known for his story-telling. Survivors include his wife, Merle; one son, Jim (Lora) Wolff of Keokuk; one daughter, Linda Wolff of Cedar Falls; a grandson, Brandon Wolff; a sister, Martha Crooks of Nashua; a sister-in-law, Alice Wolff of Charles City. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Wolff; a brother, Adolph “Butch” Wolff Jr. and a sister, Margaret Bahlmann.

  2. Linda, you and your family have our Prayers and sympathy. Jackie has had Pneumonia and we have had her dad in hospital for Colon surgery. He just got home today. Sorry we could not make it! Gene and Jackie Frost

  3. My wife Deb and I were saddened to learn of Albert’s passing. We only yesterday heard the news. We had been neighbors for over twenty years and it was always a delight to talk with! He was truly a good person. Please know that our prayers are with you.

  4. Sorry we can’t make it to the funeral, but, am sure sorry to hear about Albert. We know that one of the places lately he would like to see and that was the Washington DC ceremony and he made it. You probably don’t remember us be we bought Grampa Adolphs farm back in the 70’s.

  5. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Albert’s family. I really enjoyed talking with him when he would come to Linda’s games. He will be greatly missed by all.
