Albert John Denner was born on January 23, 1923, the son of Edward and Alma (Milius) Denner at St. Josephs Hospital, New Hampton, IA. He grew up on a farm northeast of New Hampton and attended Jacksonville 13 country school until he was 13 years old. He then was a full time farmer and a very motivated self-educator. On August 4, 1946, he was united in marriage to his dear wife Linda Huesmann at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Charles City, IA; they were married for 62 years. Albert and Linda farmed together for 34 years north of Boyd and then retired to New Hampton in 1980 where he and Linda built their home. Albert dearly loved his Linda. It was during his final moments that he and Linda held hands and spoke of their love for each other. Albert and Linda were members of the Northeast Iowa Farm Business Association from 1964 through 1980. Albert had a real estate license and sold real estate for several years after his retirement.
Albert had great fun playing cards and sharing coffee with family and friends; he especially enjoyed the game 500 and 31. He and Linda enjoyed being snowbirds in Mesa, AZ for 14 years. He was always educating himself and sharing his thoughts and opinions with others as well as his quick wit evoking laughter. He enjoyed Lindas cooking especially Lindas cherry dessert (his favorite). He loved helping influence the lives of many youth in the community, Bremwood, and his nieces and nephews. After his retirement, he helped his brother, Virgil farm during spring and fall and managed farms for people. Dear Keith and Eileen, We are so sorry for your loss. We will remember you and the Denner family in the days ahead. Love, Dan and Kim
I think that there is a great big card game going on in heaven and I can almost hear it. I do not know who is winning, it could be Loreen or Albert. Wally is playing fair and being nice to everyone. Uncle Albert is at a very crowded card table in heaven. He is in good company while we hold a candle for him on earth. He was loved.
It was such a pleasure to help take care of Albert at the nursing home. He was a wonderful person and was so gracious. My sympathy to the family, and know he is with our God smiling down on us.
My condolances go out to the Denner Family. I have been hearing about Albert and Linda for many years here at Profexxional Property Management. Both Gary and Keith have shared many happy memories of their time with their Aunt and Uncle. They will miss Albert very much.
What an honor to know Albert and what an honor to walk beside him during his last months. Always so quick witted with a great come back. Such deep and constant care for Linda. A great memory is helping him play his last “perfect” declared (an made) hand of 500 with fresh strawberries and ice cream to follow – a “red letter day”. A blessing to be with him in his final moments. We will miss you Albert- a man of nobility and courage!
I fondly remember serving on the Pleasant Manor board of directors with Albert. This was how I became acquainted with him. We surely will miss his presence. With sympahy for your loss, Glennda Murphy
