Alan L. Munson age 64 of New Hampton died Thursday morning, October 31, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton. Friends may greet the family 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton where there will be a service to celebrate his life at 5:00 p.m. by Pastor Kevin Frey of Trinity Lutheran Church. Alan Lee Munson was born June 12, 1949, in New Hampton, Iowa the son of Arthur Lowell and Betty Jane (Buttz) Munson. He received his education in the New Hampton Community School District. On January 20, 1967, he entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged on January 20, 1970. He worked a few years in Cedar Rapids at Smulekoff Furniture, Collins Radio and Cedar Rapids Water Works. He then moved to Arizona where he worked for thirty years as an aero-space tool and die maker. Survivors include one son, Randall Ferry of Fairmont, MN; two daughters, Marcia (Eric) Wilson of Sidney, NY, Beverly Bollman of Willcox, AZ; four grandchildren; his mother, Betty Munson of New Hampton; two brothers, Arthur Munson Jr. of Charles City and Lonnie Munson of Yukon, OK; three sisters, Diane Stolfus of Lawler, Sharon (Glen) Vander Kolk of Waverly and Carol (Irving) Reese of Charles City; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; one sister, Beverly Munson; and brother-in-law, Richard Stolfus.
