Geraldine Boos-Bravener , age 91, formerly of New Hampton, Iowa, passed away on September 25, 2025, at Denver Sunset Home.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Rev. Dan Christensen officiating. Interment will follow at the New Hampton City Cemetery with Sam Boos, Robert S. Boos, Chris Boos, Andy Boos, Dan Mueller, Mark O’Neill, and Paula Boos serving as pallbearers. Lloyd Selck, Steve & Sheryl Bruch, William J. & Pauline Bravener, Kevin & Susan Graeser, and Everett Shinstine will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends may greet the family from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Hugeback – Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Geraldine Boos-Bravener, daughter of Lorenz and Selma (Bergmann) Zander, was born in Douglas Township, Bremer County, Iowa, on July 12, 1934. She was baptized on August 5, 1934, and confirmed on July 20, 1947, both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (Siegel), rural Waverly, Iowa. In 1972, she became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton
She married Earl Clinton Boos of New Hampton on July 12, 1953, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (Siegel), rural Waverly. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm northwest of New Hampton until moving to New Hampton in 2001. Earl preceded her in death on April 1, 2009.
Geraldine then married William Elston Bravener on May 13, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton. They lived in Tripoli, later moving to Willow Winds Assisted Living in Denver, Iowa, in April 2022. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2023.
She attended rural school Douglas #1 and graduated from Frederika High School in 1952. She worked in Waterloo at Big “T” Super Market and in the office of Rath Packing Company until she got married in 1953. She then worked shortly at SuperValu and the US Post Office in New Hampton. In 1970, she began working in the Clerk of District Court’s office in New Hampton, retiring as Clerk of District Court on December 12, 1997.
She enjoyed having “family day”, cooking, attending school/church programs of her children/grandchildren, listening to Ascension on the Air radio broadcast, Sunday evening rides in the country, fall rides to the Mississippi River, quilting with her mother, playing cards (Neighbors Card Club, St. Joseph Mixer Card Club), attending plays, traveling, going to church/fundraising dinners, and watching the WNBA Indiana Fever basketball games.
Geraldine is survived by her two daughters of Waterloo: Candis (Brian M.) Smith and Joy (Kenneth) Clark; two granddaughters, Nicole Smith of Charles City, Haley Clark and step-granddaughter, Jenna Clark, both of Waterloo; one great-granddaughter, Krystina Campbell and one great-grandson, Skyler Smith of Cedar Falls, and one step-great-granddaughter, Liliana McFadden of Waterloo, plus many nephews and nieces.
Geraldine is also survived by Bill’s children: Sheryl (Steven) Bruch of New Hampton; William J. (Pauline) Bravener of Sumner, Susan (Kevin) Graeser of Nashua, and sons-in-law Lloyd Selck of Sumner and Everett Shinstine of Ionia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and husband, Kathryn (Robert C.) O’Neill; Earl’s four sibling and spouses, Arlene (William) Denner, Lorraine (Leonard) Eiler, Colletta (Roger Stenzel, Tony) Buss, and Robert D. (Rita) Boos; one nephew, Scott O’Neill; one niece, Betty (Jack) Gorman. She was also preceded in death by Bills’ daughters, Janola Selck and Beverly Shinstine, one grandson, one great-grandson, and Bill’s siblings and spouses.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made directly to them for distribution.
