Myrna Sletten

Myrna Ilene Sletten age 79 of Charles City died Monday, July 13, 2015, at her home. Private burial will take place Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Temple Baptist Church, Charles City. Hugeback-Johnson Funeral - Olson Chapel, in Nashua is in charge of arrangements. Myrna Ilene Sletten was born June 21, 1936, in Floyd County, Iowa the daughter of Jesse and Bernice Timmons. She attended Charles City High School and graduated in 1953. On November 15, 1959, she was united in marriage to Lloyd T. Bucknell. They raised seven children - Guy, Nancy, Thomas, Kelli, Jessica, Jodi, and Mike - while farming East of Charles City. Myrna also graduated from North Iowa Area Community College during this time. Lloyd became terminally ill and went home to be with the Lord in March of 1980. On February 5, 1991, Myrna married Darryl Sletten of Willmar, Minnesota, and they resided in Charles City. Darryl has three sons - Todd, Gary, and Brian. Myrna had accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior as a young girl. She desired to see her family's salvation and see their relationship with Christ steadily grow. She enjoyed Sunday school and Bible school by playing the piano and organ. She had also enjoyed teaching piano. One of her favorite Scripture passages is Proverbs 3:5,6 - 'Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.'
