Tim Shimek will be remembered for the kindness and love he shared so freely with both people and animals. A graduate of Fredericksburg, Tim spent several years working at Cash Lumber Yard in Lawler before joining Lynch Livestock. There, he contributed in the office and also traveled with Lynch BBQ, creating memories and friendships until his retirement.

Tim found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time outdoors fishing, camping, gardening, or playing volleyball. A devoted sports fan, Tim could always be counted on to be watching a game, no matter the season. He especially cherished opening his doors to family and friends during the holidays, welcoming everyone with warmth and generosity.

Above all, Tim’s greatest passion was caring for animals. His happiest moments were spent with them, and his gentle nature and compassionate heart shone brightly whenever he spoke of those he loved and looked after. Tim was especially grateful for the help and companionship of Stephanie Speltz, who shared his compassion for animals and worked alongside him in caring for the dogs he adored. Their bond reflected the deep love and respect they both held for animals.

Tim is survived by two brothers, Carl Shimek of Fredericksburg, Troy (Cathy) Cleveland of Cresco; six sisters, Renee (Bob) Nicosia of Florida, Dani (Mike) Dorenkamp of Thornton, IA, Renee Ridner of Indiana, Tammy Malone of Indiana, Dori Dybevik Moore of Missouri, Dee Grimm of Iowa City; step-father, Gary Cleveland of Cresco; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law Jimmy Ridner.

  7. I am so sad to hear about Tim. Sue, Kylie and I lived upstairs in his apartment. We did so many things together. We did chores together, ate together most of the time, we would go to yard sales and shop together. He was just a part of us. No cared more about his animals than he did. He was the most caring and loving guy you ever met. I have missed him since we moved back to Ft.Madison, but this is really hard to accept. He will be with his mom now, and he missed her so much. RIP Tim you are loved.
