Bob was born August 20, 1930 in Volga, IA, the son Austin and Gladys (Schlatter) Rogers, he was one of six children. He attended schools in the Volga and Fayette area before making Fredericksburg his home. Bob went into the Marine Corp and was very proud of his service. To him, it was an adventure. The small town Iowa farm boy loved the opportunities the Marines gave him. After he returned from the service he met Florence Harrison. The couple later married on April 8, 1954 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg. To this union three children were born. Bob worked at Super Sweet in Fredericksburg grinding feed. He eventually took a job as a farm hand for Roy Purdy. Bob loved all aspects of farm life. From feeding the cattle, to tending the crops, he even enjoyed picking rock. Being outside was just something that couldn’t be taken away from that small town farm boy. After the farm sold he went to work for the Fredericksburg Co-Op. He again was grinding feed and eventually retired from there. Along with farming he loved to go camping. The couple went to the Decorah Campground every summer and made some wonderful friends with their neighbors there. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, and having coffee with his friends. You could say he was a people person. Bob is survived by his wife, Florence, of Sumner, IA; two daughters, Ruth Morriss of Fredericksburg, IA, Rhonda Teeter of Mason City, IA; one son, Leroy (Deb) Rogers of Gunder, IA; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul (Darlys) Rogers of Brandon, IA; one sister, Dorothy (Raymond) Harrison of Fredericksburg, IA; one sister-in-law, Wanda Rogers of Fredericksburg, IA; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin great-granddaughters; three brothers, Ronald Rogers, Gerald (Gloria) Rogers, George (Donna) Rogers.
