Randy Paul Burgart age 72 of New Hampton died Friday, December 5, 2025 unexpectedly at his home.

Friends are invited to greet the family from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Here’z 2 U restaurant located at 208 W. Main Street Fredericksburg, IA 50630.

Randy Paul Burgart passed away on December 5, 2025. Born on April 9, 1953, the son of Clayton and Virginia (Johnston) Burgart in New Hampton, Randy’s life was defined by his love of horses and the life he had built with his wife and girls.

Randy was no stranger to hard work. He graduated from New Hampton High School, class of 1971 and continued to live and work on the family dairy farm, which he would later take over.  Randy lived on the home place all but three years of his life, raising Brown Swiss cows, crops, and eventually his beloved family.

Randy met his future wife Linda Schulz in Fredericksburg. They were married on June 6, 1986, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Together they welcomed three daughters: Christina, Sarah, and Paula. You could not have a conversation with Randy without hearing about his girls and what they were up to. An original girl dad, his daughters meant the world to him.

Beyond his family, Randy’s heart belonged to the world of horses. He was a cowboy in every sense of the word, from his black hat and boots to his Stetson cologne. Randy cherished the time he spent with horses from early life, whether breaking, riding, or shodding or working with draft horses on the farm. Randy’s connection with horses grew as he became an outrider in the Chuckwagon Races of Iowa-Minnesota, then an owner and driver of the Blue B Wagon, and finally a judge. R.B.’s commitment to Chuckwagon spanned an impressive 47 years and he made lifelong friends along the way. Many of those friends joined Randy camping and riding as he ultimately rode in 14 different states.

Randy loved being outside and was also an avid hunter. He could always invent some task that needed to be done on the farm to get outside. He raised black and tan raccoon hunting dogs for competition hunting and deer hunted every season. He was not a patient man but had also embraced fishing with friends in later years.

Randy is survived by his wife, Linda Burgart of New Hampton, IA; three daughters, Christina (Alberto) López of Los Angeles, CA, Sarah (Nicholas) Styles of Washington, DC, and Paula (Kyle) Neitzke of New Hampton, IA; three grandchildren, Alejandro López, Lucrecia López, and Raya Neitzke; one brother, Rick (Jan) Burgart of New Hampton, IA; four sisters, Dianne Dann of Fredericksburg, IA, Barbara (Dennis) Folkers of Oelwein, IA, Dixie (Jim) Joebgen of North Washington, IA, and Dawn (John) Eichenberger of Lawler, IA; one brother-in-law, Kenny Lechtenberg of North Washington, IA; two sisters-in-law, Mary Burgart of Sumner, IA and Sue Burgart of New Hampton, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Mavis Burgart; siblings, Cheryl Lechtenberg, Roger Burgart, Rocky Burgart, Rance Burgart, and Joseph Burgart; and nephew, Brian Folkers.
