Iva Isenhower

Iva Jean Isenhower, age 88 of Fredericksburg, Iowa died Sunday April 24, 2016, at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Hampton.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Hillcrest Baptist & Brethren Church, Fredericksburg with Pastor Todd Yeaton presiding. Brenda Speicher will be the organist with Faye Elliott the vocalist. Hymns for the service are, 'In The Garden', 'Precious Lord Take My Hand' and 'How Great Thou Art'.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg with Ryan O’Day, Darren O’Day, Mitch Grummitt, John Isenhower, Wesley Langfitt and Marvin Grummitt acting as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Martin and Billy Martin.
Friends may greet the family 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Iva Jean Isenhower was born November 28, 1927, in Gifford, IA, the daughter of Peter and Ula Mae (Irons) Uhlenberg. She received her education in Garwin and graduated from the Garwin High School in 1945. On March 9, 1947, at the Christian Church in Garwin, she married Wesley Woodrow Isenhower. To this union seven children were born. The couple made their first home in a remodeled country school where Iva Jean attended school for eight years. They moved to Chickasaw County in 1953 and lived west of Boyd, near Jackson Junction and rural Fredericksburg. In the spring of 1963, the couple moved into the town of Fredericksburg.
Iva Jean was a homemaker, worked at Mienerz Creamery, Ott and Forsman and in the local grocery store for over 22 years.
Survivors include her husband, Wes of Fredericksburg; one son, David (Sharon) Isenhower of Fredericksburg; four daughters, Virginia O’Day of St. Charles, MO, Joyce Langfitt of Windsor Heights, IA, Janice (Lurton) Grummitt of Allison and Barb (Keith) Speicher of Fredericksburg; 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Vernon (Marilyn) Uhlenberg of Fredericksburg; one sister, Phyllis Watson of Las Vegas; one sister-in-law, Iva Vest of Albuquerque, NM.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dennis Isenhower in 1975; daughter, Brenda Wurzer in 2007; sister, Bertha O’Connell; half-brother, Frank Vest; grandchildren, Tammy Langfitt, Cori Isenhower-Martin and a great-grandson, Ryan Connell.
Wes, you & your family have my sincere condolences on the loss of this beautiful lady. She, and all of you have withstood so much sorrow and loss in your lives; you are an inspiration in strength. May she rest in peace.

Iva Jean was a person that my mother had many kind words for. Mother was born in 1915 and passed in 2000. The Delfs’ family were members of Iva Jean’s Garwin community. I was born in 1938. Some of the best neighbors anyone could ask for. Sooo many memories of Wes & Iva Jean.
