Friends may greet the family an hour prior to the service at the church.

Ilene was born, November 14, 1933, in Horton, IA, the daughter of Marvin and Grace (Shipp) Ihde.  Ilene was third of ten children. She was raised in Horton, Iowa on a farm. Her home church was Horton Baptist. She met her husband, Jim Weikert, at youth group. They married March 8th, 1954 and had five children. When her youngest graduated, she changed jobs from being a homemaker to an over-the-road truck driver with Jim. They drove together for 16 years before they retired.

She was known for her infectious laugh, constant joy and encouragement, but above and beyond that, she was known for her love of the Lord. She led many to Christ and mentored countless people along the way. If you were a stranger to her, it wasn’t uncommon to hear her ask, “Do you know the Lord?” She encouraged everyone to always keep the Lord first in their life. A few days before she died, she was asked what will be the first thing she says to Jesus. With immediate tears in her eyes, she said, “Oh Jesus, I love you so very much!” And then it was told to her what His reply would be, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Enter into your rest.” She smiled and exclaimed, “REALLY?! Oh, that’s so good to hear.”
Ilene left a legacy of love, family, and a rich heritage of the love of Christ. She will truly be greatly missed.
