Gerald Lee Rogers age 79 died Sunday, November 30, 2014, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, formerly of Fredericksburg, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg with Pastor Ronnie Koch presiding.
Inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg with Katie Marie Fober, Luke Irven Fober and Mary Ann Fober as urn bearers.
Arrangements are with Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.
Gerald Lee Rogers was born October 14, 1935, on the family farm a half mile south of the Volga Lake in rural Fayette County, IA. He was the son of Austin Lee and Gladys Marie (Schlatter) Rogers. Gerald was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg on May 6, 1951, by Rev. William Ullerich. He received his education from the Fredericksburg Community School District, graduating from the Fredericksburg High School in 1955.
On October 20, 1959, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa Gerald was united in marriage to Gloria Jean Gardner. To this union two children were born, John Alex and Marie Ann. The couple made their home in Sumner, Iowa where he worked as a mechanic and farmed. They moved to Alva, OK on March 17, 1998, where he worked at Walmart in the maintenance department until his retirement. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Alva. Gerald loved bowling and participated in leagues his entire life.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Gloria, of Alva OK; one daughter, Marie Ann (Bradley) Fober of Sumner, IA; one son, John Alex Rogers of Denver, IA; three brothers, Robert (Florence) Rogers of Fredericksburg, IA, George (Donna) Rogers of Mason City, IA and Paul (Darlys) Rogers of Brandon, IA; one sister, Dorothy (Raymond) Harrison of Fredericksburg; four grandchildren, Katie Marie Fober of Ames, IA, Luke Irven Fober of Sumner, IA, Mary Ann Fober of Sumner, IA and Riley Jean Rogers of Waterloo, IA; one sister-in-law, Wanda Rogers of Fredericksburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald Rogers.
