Dale Edwin Schroeder, age 82 of Nashua, IA died Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa in Mason City. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Nashua with Rev. Bill Nielson presiding. Friends may greet the family from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home – Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service on Monday at church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery with military rites by Nashua VFW Post #6792. Dale Edwin Schroeder was born December 4, 1933 in Chickasaw County, the son of Fred Jr. and Dora (Bahlmann) Schroeder. Dale’s education was obtained at Riverton #10 rural school in Floyd County and high school equivalency in the service. He was married to the love of his life, Shirley Crabtree on March 11, 1967. The couple had two children. His entire life was spent on the farm except two years service time in the U.S. Army, where he spent time in the 2nd Armored Div. Germany. In July of 2000 the couple decided it was time to get off the farm and move into town. In November of 2002 Shirley passed away from cancer. Dale and Shirley’s favorite pastime was playing golf and making trips to visit their children and grandchildren. Dale is survived by one son, Ron (Marcy) Schroeder of Glenwood, IA; one daughter Joan Jones of Pinehurst, NC; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Donald Busching of Plainfield, IA; special friend Shirley Mae Drewis and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2002; two brothers Harold and Lawrence Schroeder; two sisters Edna Busching and Irene Schroeder.

  4. Dale is going to be missed by SO many people, he made friends very quickly, always a kind word, just a perfect man. He was an awesome friend to my Mother for 12 years, and we couldn’t think of a family function that Dale wasn’t a part of. I’m going to miss you Dale, Holidays will be empty without you. Truly an Angel has been added in Heaven, love you and will always have awesome memories of you. RIP Dale :broken_heart:
