Born on June 19, 1983, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Brock’s early years were steeped in the values of community and service from his father and mother that would define his life.
A proud graduate of Janesville High School, Brock went on to pursue his passion for public service at Hawkeye Community College, where he earned a degree in Police Science. His commitment to helping others was evident through his work in Emergency Medical Services and as a courageous firefighter in New Hampton. Brock’s dedication to safety and responsible citizenship was further exemplified by his lifetime membership in the National Rifle Association and his active involvement in the Cedar Falls Gun Club.
On October 5, 2024, Brock married his beloved Marea Baker at the Old West Paint Church in Waterville, after a loving courtship of five years. Their union was a beautiful testament to love, blending their families in a home filled with joy, laughter, and wonderful memories.
Brock’s zest for life shone through his numerous interests and hobbies. Known as a jack of all trades—with the humorous exception of dancing—Brock’s love for the great outdoors was unparalleled. Just like his father, he was “a true cowboy” at heart, often found hunting and fishing, which were not just pastimes but a way of life. His adventurous soul was never more alive than when hunting with Addison and Evelyn, leading can-am rides with the kids or spending tranquil moments at the family cabin.
Above all, Brock was an amazing father. His big, blended family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment he spent nurturing and guiding them. His love was a guiding light, a source of strength and comfort that will continue to shine in the hearts of his children.
Described by those who knew him best as loving, adventurous, and passionate, Brock’s legacy is one of unwavering commitment to his family, his friends, and his community. His infectious smile, hearty laugh, and the tales of his escapades will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
Brock’s life was a vivid tapestry woven with the love of his family, the loyalty of his friends, and the respect of his colleagues. As we say farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by genuine kindness and a courageous spirit.
Brock is survived by his wife Marea (Baker) Schmidt of New Hampton; mother Pamela (Treptow) Schmidt of Janesville; son Jonathan Baker of New Hampton; daughters: Addison Schmidt of New Hampton, Evelyn Schmidt of New Hampton, Kaylee (Andrew Coyler) Baker of Lamoni, Ia, Grace Baker of New Hampton, and Annabelle Baker of New Hampton; mother and father-in-law Duane (Kathy) Wickman; brother-in-laws: Jeff Wickman, Paul Wickman, Adrian Montano, and Greg Schmitt; sister-in-laws: Annette Montano and Sara Schmitt; Uncle Greg Treptow; Aunt Kim (Don) Blazek; cousins: Jamee (Brandon) Schmitt, Johanna Blazek, Wyatt Blazek, Jalyssa Blazek, and Laurinda Karsten; Godmother Nancy Lockett; many nieces, nephews and friends; and father-figure Mel Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his father Jimmie Schmidt, his Godfather Jack Lockett and his grandparents.

Words can not express the sorrow I feel for his family, my deepest sympathy. He provided me with bountiful adventures and memories. He will be sorely missed. He was a good man and a dear friend.
Just so sad, Pam and Family! My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Thinking of all the family and also friends of my cousin, Brock. I am his Texas cousin and wish I could be there
to be with the rest of the family, but can’t at this time. I have great memories of the Schmidts visiting us in Texas
and us visiting them in Iowa. I only got to meet Marea and her children at the wedding in October, but fell in
love with them. I want Pam, Addison, Evelyn, Marea and her children to know that I love them and have all of
them in my prayers. Love to all of you, Linnie Osbourn
Our deepest sympathy to all of Brock’s family and friends.
We are thinking of Marea and all the family in this sad time. We will remember Brock as always a kind and welcoming man, who loved his family very much. While it is hard to understand such a loss, we trust he is with God. Our sympathy to you all.
