Barbara Lumley, age 70 of Nashua, Iowa died Thursday, May 13, 2021, at the Waverly Health Center. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Nashua United Methodist Church with Rev. John Tunnicliff celebrating the service. Pallbearers will be Andrew Pahnisch, Ashley Pahnisch, Laine Lumley, Abby Lumley, Steph Lumley and Austin Birmingham. Honorary pallbearers will be Talan and Finlee Pahnisch. Friends may greet the family from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021, at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory -- Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Barb Lumley was born May 10, 1951, in Charles City, IA, the daughter of Merle and Mary (Ashley) Usher. She was baptized and confirmed at the Nashua United Methodist Church. Barb graduated from Nashua High School in 1969. August 9, 1969, in Nashua, she married the love of her life, Richard Lumley. Barb worked at Sarah Lee, Winnebago, and the Waverly Health Center where she retired in 2017. After retirement Barb volunteered at the Nashua Welcome Center and on the committee for the splash pad at the park in Nashua. She loved her family and family vacations in Walker, Minnesota. She enjoyed fishing and boat rides but she mostly enjoyed being with her family and watching her grandkids and great grandkids play and laugh. Christmas was her favorite holiday where her counters were always filled with food and no one left with an empty stomach. Barb is survived by her husband Richard of Nashua, IA; one daughter, Mary (Jeff Kettwig) Birmingham of Nashua, IA; one son, Brian (Melissa) Lumley of Nashua, IA; six grandchildren, Andrew (Cindy Stacy) Pahnisch, Ashley Pahnisch, Laine Lumley, Abby Lumley, Steph Lumley and Austin Birmingham; two great-grandchildren Talan and Finlee Pahnisch; one brother, Jeff(Korine) Usher of Denver, CO; one sister, Julie (Jim) Betsinger of Nashua, IA; life long friends, Brian and Casey Hackman. She was preceded in death by her parents and her best friend Caroline Hansen.

  6. I have only know Barb for the last couple years thru the Nashua Welcome Center. But she ha a heart of gold and will miss her a bunch. You are definitely going to be missed🥰 Gone to soon. 😘 I remember our fam spending a lot of time with your fam when I was young. Riding snowmobiles at your house. Uncle Richard telling us kids that we should go outside and blow the stink off of us😆 ( we were probably all being Stinkers😆) I have in my memory being at like Perkins at midnight we must’ve all went as a family somewhere. So Rich and Barb and my mom and dad took all the kids and we went out to eat breakfast…but I remember Barb and Mom laughing so hard about whatever it was, that they were crying😆 Loved your laugh. I hope right now, you are looking at the face of Jesus. No more worries, only LOVE and beauty and peace. 🥰🤗

  8. Hugs & Love to Richard, Mary, Brian and family. So many memories when we were younger from grilling in the middle of winter to planning Patrick’s going away party before he left for the service and going fishing. We will cherish these memories. Love and miss you Barb but knowing you are in God’s loving arms and are at peace.

When I think back “oh the good times we had”Julie can relate to that!! Then Jeff came along and think us girls spoiled him just a little bit! Jim and I even had Barb and Rich as neighbors and helped each other with babysitting our kids! All of us have been so lucky to have Barb as our friend, she was a special gal and friend. My heart and prayers are with you Rich, Julie, Jeff , Brian and Mary and all the family.   13. I was so saddened to hear of Barb’s passing. Growing up, she treated all us kids like her own. I moved away from Nashua quite some time ago, but every time I went back and would see Barb, she always greeted me like she always did. She never forgot me. I know she is in a better place watching over her family. RIP Barb!
