Alberta Mary Riha age 78 of New Hampton died Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

Prayer service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in New Hampton with Deacon Vic DeSloover officiating.  Her grandchildren: Jacob Paxton, Matthew Paxton, Becca Riha, Hailey Riha, and Morgan Riha will be serving as honorary urnbearers.

Friends may greet the family from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory.

Alberta was born February 23, 1947 To Wilma & Walter Richmond in Calmer IA. She went to St Aloysius Catholic school thru 8th grade then to De Sales high school in Ossian Ia Where she graduated in 1965

Alberta married Alvin Riha on June 7th 1965 in Calmar IA, they had three children, and Alberta worked in the health care field at the local nursing homes, for Chickasaw county health care and Mercy medical Center before she retired.
Alberta had many hobbies. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, reading, going to the casino and playing the slot machines and shopping. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and traveling to places like Las Vegas and going on cruise ships to the Caribbean.
Alberta is survived by her husband, Alvin Riha of New Hampton, Daughter Annette (Terry) Paxton Overland Park KS, Amy Riha New Hampton IA, Andy (Laura) Riha New Hampton, IA, 5 grandchildren Jacob (Mayci) Paxton, Mathew (Bre) Paxton, Becca Riha, Hailey Riha, Morgan Riha and 3 great grandchildren Amber, Hazel, and Matilda Paxton.
