Agatha Dorothy Hoffman was born April 26, 1923, in rural Festina, IA, the daughter of Bernard and Mary (Elsbrend) Tieskoetter and moved with her family to a farm by Ossian when she was young. She attended St. Francis De Sales Catholic School until the eighth grade. Agatha helped take care of her nieces and nephews and other families in the area who needed help.
She met Jack Hoffman when her sister, Hedwig, was dating Jack’s brother Joe. The couple was married on October 30, 1945. To this union five children were born, Betty, Don, Ed, Bob, and Diane.
Agatha loved her flowers and always had a big garden. She helped Jack with the farm, milking the cows and doing the chores. She sold eggs in Ionia for grocery money.
Agatha loved to quilt and made a quilt for all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She helped the ladies of St. Boniface with their quilting for many years. Monday was her favorite day because she got to quilt all day and play bingo in the evening.
Agatha is survived by two daughters, Betty Bynon of Ionia, IA, Diane (Larry) Kellogg of Ionia, IA; three sons, Don Hoffman of Ionia, IA, Ed (Shirley) Hoffman of Ionia, IA, Bob Hoffman of Ionia, IA; seventeen grandchildren and twenty nine great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Anita Tieskoetter.
She joins her husband Jack; son-in-law, Dave Bynon; grandson, Joe Kellogg; great-grandson Ryan Hoffman; five brothers, Joe, Louis, Frank, Paul, and Fonse Tieskoetter; two sisters, Helen Hemesath and Hedwig Hoffman.

Tony and I wish to express our deepest sympathy to the whole family. Your mother was a beautiful person in many ways. I will remember all the great memories throughout the many years and your memories will comfort you in the time of sorrow. We are sorry we will not be able to attend the wake or funeral for we have been in Florida for the last month and will not be home until March 5th. We will send a card but also will be thinking of the entire family this week.
