Born on May 25, 1935, to Alvin and Ella (Borcherding) Hucke, in the same community she would stick around for her lifetime. Pat’s journey was one of love, dedication, and an unwavering passion for the community that she so dearly cherished.

Pat’s life was a tapestry of beautiful moments woven together with the love of her family and friends. A proud graduate of Fredericksburg High School in 1953, she carried the values of hard work and commitment into every facet of her life. Shortly after graduation, Pat married the love of her life, Robert Ross, on April 29, 1956, at Peace Church in Fredericksburg. Their love story was the stuff of small-town legend, with Robert making many deliberate passes by the bank where Pat worked, mustering the courage to ask her out. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership.

Pat was the quintessential farm wife and bank teller, balancing her professional role with the demands of farm life with grace and resilience. Her work at the bank was more than a job; it was an opportunity to be at the heart of the community she adored, connecting with people and sharing in their lives.
A fervent supporter of the Cubs baseball team and the Iowa Hawkeyes, Pat’s spirit soared whenever she cheered them on, especially when Caitlin Clark took to the court. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and she shared this passion with her children and later her grandchildren, always present in the stands, her cheers the loudest and proudest.

Pat’s interests were a reflection of her love for life and community. Her card club gatherings, coffee chats with friends, and bingo mornings were filled with laughter and camaraderie. Known for her legendary cinnamon rolls, Pat’s baking was a staple during the holidays, with community members eagerly placing orders to share a piece of her culinary magic.

Family vacations were treasured times, whether they were cheering at the Twins games or enjoying the simplicity of bullhead fishing. These moments were cherished, creating memories that her family will hold dear forever. Pat’s love for her grandchildren was boundless, and she relished in sharing their latest achievements with anyone who would listen.

Pat’s dedication to her church and its activities was a testament to her faith and her desire to serve others. She was a beacon of love and generosity, always putting the needs of others before her own. It was in these selfless acts that Pat’s true character shone brightest.

Pat is survived by her sons Gary (Diane) Ross of Urbandale and Mark (Chandie) Ross of Bettendorf; daughter Jo (Greg) Henn of Nashua; grandchildren: Holly Bousselot, Kory (Keri) Ross, Tyler Henn, Kayla (Alex) Wesdorf, Kari (Jake) Borchert, Brady Henn, Preston Ross, and Lauren Ross; great-grandchildren: Maysa, Taya, Mia, and Cooper Wesdorf, Emma and Caden Ross, and Adelyn, Leighton, and Weston Borchert; brother Roger (Ruth) Hucke of Sumner; sister LeAnn (Tim) Baldwin of Manchester; brother-in-laws: Harold (Sheryl) Ross, Art Roberts, and Chuck Heyer; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ross; parents Alvin and Ella (Borcherding) Hucke; sister Gwen Heyer; sister-in-laws Laura Hucke and Margaret Roberts; and brother-in-laws John (Leitha) Ross and Carl (Ann) Ross.
