George Fred Maloy, age 85, of New Hampton, Iowa, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on March 14, 1940, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Vada (Fee) Maloy. George was a lifelong farmer whose dedication to the land and his community was unwavering. He spent his early years on the family farm, where he learned the value of hard work—rising early to milk cows and tend to chores that shaped his strong character and deep connection to the land.

In his youth, he was a standout athlete, excelling in both football and wrestling. He capped off his high school wrestling career as a conference champion his senior year, a testament to his determination and grit. A proud veteran of the United States Navy Seabees, George served his country right out of high school with honor and discipline as a diesel mechanic before shipping out to Okinawa, Japan.

On January 20th, 1963, he married the love of his life, Judy Whitney. During the past 62 years, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and the simple joys of farm life. George built a legacy rooted in love and devoted his life to his family and farming, cultivating the fields of Iowa with care and pride. To his family, he was more than just a provider; he was a source of wisdom, humor, and unconditional love.

George will be remembered for his warm greeting of ‘hey kid’, his kind heart, quiet humor, and the way his face lit up when his grandchildren entered a room. He was a man of faith who lived simply but loved deeply, leaving behind a legacy as rich as the soil he worked.

The harvest is over, the work is done. Rest in peace.

George is survived by his wife, Judy Maloy of New Hampton, IA; two sons, Shanon Maloy of Ionia, IA, Joseph (Danielle) Maloy of Charles City, IA; two daughters, Teresa Werner of New Hampton, IA, Connie (Ron) Bethany of New Hampton, IA; fourteen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren with two on the way; four sisters, Ellen Calease of Waverly, IA, Mary Eick of Viroqua, Wi, Bonnie (Ken) Dahlstrom of Waverly, IA, and Nancy (Gary) Smith of Waverly, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David Maloy; granddaughter, Tawny Bethany, and brother-in-law, Dale Calease.
