Dennis William Richter age 73 of New Hampton, IA, died Saturday, August 16, 2025, at his home with family.

Services will be held at a later date.

Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in New Hampton has been entrusted with arrangements.

Dennis William Richter was born October 3, 1951, in West Bend, IA, the son of Bernard and Delores (Gaede) Richter.  He attended St. Joseph Grade School and was a 1969 graduate of the New Hampton High School.  Dennis worked at Zip’s for over 30 years and a for a year in maintenance at the Chickasaw County Court House.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; his dog, Deeder; brothers, Larry Richter of Decorah, Gery (Cherry) Richter of New Hampton; sister, Karen (Don) Utley of New Hampton; sisters-in-law, Patricia Ott of New Hampton, Karen Ott of Oelwein.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne Richter.

    • Condolences to the family. Enjoyed working with Dennis at St. Joseph Hospital when he worked in maintenance. He was always a very hard worker, knowledgeable, and friendly. May he rest in peace.
