David Lee Bearman, age 68 of Nashua, IA, died Sunday, August 9, 2015, at his home due to complications from the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday August 12, 2015 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Nashua with Pastor Bill Nielson presiding.
Interment will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in Charles City, IA following the service. Pallbearers will be Cody Bearman, Jake Flattum, Gary Schneider, Billy Bearman, Bruce Bearman and Jim Bearman.
Friends may greet the family 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday August 11th at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home – Olson Chapel in Nashua. Further visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
David Lee Bearman was born August 2, 1947 in New Hampton, IA, the son of Harry and Evelyn (Soukup) Bearman. He attended Cresco Jr. High and then went on to Fredericksburg High School where he graduated in 1965. Shortly after graduation, David was drafted into the U.S. Military and was in the service for two years. After his time in the service, David met the love of his life, Joyce Eckenrod. The couple was married shortly after meeting on January 15, 1972 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Sumner, IA. To this union four children were born.
David worked many different jobs throughout his life. He worked at Oliver White Farm in Charles City, the Sumner Co-op buying hogs, AMPI where he drove the milk truck, Hostess, and Five-Star Co-op in New Hampton where he drove semi as well. He enjoyed driving semi for the various companies he worked for.
David was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to do anything outdoors; especially fishing, hunting, camping, trail riding and chuckwagon racing. One last lap around the track was all he wanted in his last days. Along with being outdoors, David enjoyed traveling with his family. Often they would not have a destination in mind, but would just go where the road took them. David was a member of the American Legion in Nashua and also served on the St. Johns Lutheran Church council. Family always came first for David. You could often catch him bragging about his family to others because he cared for them dearly.
David is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joyce Bearman of Nashua; three sons, Billy (Jenni) Bearman of New Hampton, Bruce Bearman of Sumner, Jim (Amanda) Bearman of Nashua; 7 grandchildren, Jake, Cody, Taylor, Tori, Ty, Wyatt, Walker; his mother Evelyn Bearman of New Hampton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Bearman; one son, Joseph in 1982.

Just heard about Dave. I worked with Dave at hostess. I teamed with him to Wilma MN for a year and a half. He was a very good driver and taught me alot. Dave was always a positive cheerful guy. Just as everyone knows Dave truly was a great guy that loved his family. Sorry for your loss , Dave will be missed..
I didn’t know David, but I wanted to send my deepest sympathies to his family. I lost my father, Kip Johnson, to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease just a few weeks ago, on July 21, 2015. I was struck by how much David and my dad had in common… my dad was 70 years old and a truck driver. His route used to include a stop in Ionia. He loved his children and grandchildren, and took immense pride in bragging about them. Like my dad, I’m sure that David will be missed greatly. Evelyn, Joyce and family, It indeed was a shock to learn of David’s illness and passing. Life can change in an instant but now he is with our Lord and we wait until we can be together once again. Until then, our Lord will wrap His arms tightly around you and hold you up when you feel like you are falling. I first got to know David well in eighth grade although I remember him earlier when we went to Cresco for Basic Skills tests. It was rather ironic then when I met and married Orin that I learned he was a friend of the Ellingson’s too. In years following we would meet at Kent banquets. Who would have guessed when we saw him at Ann’s visitation that would be the last time. There are lots of ‘who would have guessed’ in this world and it would be a sad world if we knew all those things ahead of time. My heart grieves for your family now and in the months ahead.

David and I go WAY back! He was a neighboring playmate that use to ride his tricylce down the crushed rock road to our farm and want to play, until his Mom found him. He tried it again and successfully found all my mud pies and had lot’s of fun breaking all of them. I was a little freckled redhed and he soon found out that I could show my temper and he never tried it again! We always had a good time together whatever we were doing. His parents were very good friends of my parents so we spent alot of time seeing each other. We want you all to know that we all feel the loss of a wonderful man. Dave was very proud of his whole family when visiting with him. He was such a hard worker also.
